How long realistically will it take us to see a SB appearance ?

Please state your opinion based on your gut feeling.

If we get the big name HC, and Vincent Jackson and go heavy O-lineman draft then we will 1-3 if we don't then we will waist all our veteran players after the next 3 years, and we will be where we are now!!

This sucks.

Do us all a favor. Whatever the results are of this poll, leave the site, and come back after the voted amount of time. After all, if you truly believe we are a long way away from being winners, then you really don't have any reason to come on this board and post negative "realism" until we're super bowl bound, like your beloved Patriots.

What assessment Mia1? You're mixing threads. Keep it simple for us stupid folk ok?

The true fact is that this team isn't successful with the current coaching staff, and I believe they will be seeing pink slips soon. That being said, whoever comes in behind them will be picking their own QB, so this whole debate of Henne vs. Thigpen is moot. The NE game is meaningless aside from maybe a rivalry thing, so whoever starts doesn't really matter towards the teams goals of a SB appearance that Ross stated at the beginning of the year.

No it matters alot.

Moxy, how bad does Thigpen want it or HENNE for that matter, I can tell you about Henne, he doesnt care, just look at him on the sidelines, now Thigpen he looked pretty fired up on that Thursday night game.

Mia1, Dolfan1 posted the thread and poll. What are you talking about that Odenn did it?

There you go embarrassing yourself like you did on the "holiday for the rest of us."

When your coaches handcuff you and don't allow you to play the game the way you've played it your entire life, tell you you can't even do the simplest thing a QB is entitled to do(change plays based on coverage schemes and blitzing), I wouldn't be that excited about what I was about to have to go out and do either. It's like going to work and your boss telling you that you have to accomplish your quota, but you can only use one hand. Something like that, can't think of an analogy.

We could be 2-3 years away if the right things happen:

1. New strong and motivating HC
2. New OC brings in a dynamic and aggressive offense
3. Either Henne's light turns on or we pick up a FA like Palmer
4. We find a diamond RB in the draft
5. We pick up a good pass catching TE in the draft
6. We pick up a pro-bowl-caliber Center in the draft
7. We keep Nolan who continues to develop our D
8. Our injuries are minimal the year we go all the way.

It could happen!

Let's see now...

This team hasn't been to a Superbowl since Jan 20, 1985 and we haven't had a franchise QB from the year 2000 to present.

The odds are telling me not to hold my breath, so I guess those little odd voices in my head are coming from the planet Moron.

Very true. Good QB and a running game is all we need to be legitimate contenders.

Now, getting all those pieces in 1 off season will be tough, but, it is plausable.

Oh yeah, and a coach, and O-coordinator.

I beg to differ, in fact I can name a handfull of teams that are never a year away, for like the past decade?

To think otherwise is, well revert to what you typed for reference.

We went from 1-15, to 11-5 in one year.

Tell me it can't happen.

Did we go deep into the playoffs, did we win the superbowl? Isnt that the best turn around in NFL history?

Detroit lions, Seahawks, Raiders, Buffalo. I can go on and on. Miami. lol sad smiley

Gotta agree with Ghotirule. Every team is always one season away. Didn't we go from 1-15 to 11-5? Hell, we could have theoretically won the SuperBowl that year.

You can agree, but you where with EVERYONE ELSE IN THE WORLD, knew that the Lions for the past 4 years where YEARS away, same with the Rams, now your changing your tune and saying every team is one year away lol..

That's the dumbest thing I've ever read that you typed. VERY uncharacteristic guys, BAD FORM!

Seeing how our team did not win the superbowl, makes your whole point invalid.

If a 1-15 team actualy won the superbowl the next year then you could hold water to the base theory of any team is on year away.

HOWEVER a team cannot and HAS NOT ever done that, therfore certain teams are NEVER just one year away from winning it all, because of either lack of coaching, playing, or both.

Again want to hear you say that you believed that the Detroit Lions, and Buffalo Bills, and Stl rams where all one year away from winning it all for the past 5 years.

I will not only laugh, but I will also cry, at your stubborness.

Your argument is on the line's of the world can end any second, while I guess nothing is 100 percent.

I dought you would go around telling everyone that.

The probabilities of that happening is the same chance's that the Lions have of winning the SB next year.

Cryn stop dude, WE DID NOT GO TO THE SUPERBOWL!!!!!!!!!!!!

I NEVER SAID A TEAM CANNOT MAKE PLAYOFFS ANY YEAR, BUT THE LIONS WILL NOT CANNOT WILL NOT 100 PERCENT SURE THEY WILL NEVER EVER EVER BE THE SB CHAMPIONS NEXT YEAR!!!! I GUARANTEE IT!!!!!! 1 MILLION PERCENT

YOU HAVE A BETTER CHANCE AT PLAYING PICK UP STICK'S WITH YOUR BUTTCHEECKS THAN SEEING THE LIONS HOLDING UP THE LOMBARDI TROPHIE NEXT YEAR!!!
