Remember the Orange Bowl ?

Obviously the Dolphins need to get smarter...... Starting in the front office all the way down to the players ! Does it seem like no one knows what they are doing lately ? Maybe I'm just pissed off because we can't win a home game. Remember the Orange Bowl ? Dolphins were great there, they set an NFL record for most consecutive home games won at the Orange Bowl, 31. Today it looks like they are trying set a record for most loses at home !

I remember the atmosphere in the old Orange Bowl albeit as a kid. When Shula walked in it was like Caesar had showed up.

The players are uninspired now because they have no faith, trust, belief whatever you wanna call it in the management/coaching staff or seemingly in each other.

Someone else in another thread talked about 'Wanny Ball'. I think that describes us pretty well over the last 10 years. We have been led by guys who know/believe in a certain 'system'. They are hell bent to implement it and if it doesn't fit their talent or the other teams matchups...well...they are out of ideas.

Your right, we need 'football-smart' coaches who can game plan our strengths against our opponents weaknesses (ala Shula vs '85 Bears). And most importantly we need a coaching staff who can see the other teams plan and ADJUST AT GAME TIME. This last thing we have been horrible at for years.

That's the problem,we dolphin fans live in the past. We need to re-establish this type of leadership or just watch the patriots run the table year after year

I'm guilty of bringing up the past, sometimes to re-live it (without those memories I'd go insane) but also to LEARN from it. You know, the same way you wistfully admire the achievements of the Patsies, a lot of us feel the same way about the Miami Dolphins.

Rick1355 is correct to cite the old OB as an example of a fan atmosphere conducive to winning home games. Obviously we shouldn't remove the backs from all the seats and paint lines on benches and convert the building to a metal horseshoe with a live Dolphin at the open end retrieving kicks from his pool. But there are a lot of distractions at our home games. They're meant to add to the "game day experience" but in reality they take away from the GAME experience. Jimmy Buffet music, instant replay devices, spotlight on celebrity owners, etc. all DETRACT attention away from what is *supposed* to be the reason people are paying good money for tickets: to watch an actual football game.

The new stadium is just very commercial. Florida in general is all about consumerism at it's best. More car dealers, shopping centers etc. It's sensory overload down there. Glad I'm living in CT. Though they have def hotter women and dumber ones too which is a good thing.
thumbs up
