I have been on a roller coster since we lost back to back against the jets and pats in week 3-4, hoping wondering do we have a chance to get into the playoffs. We lost to the steeler and ravens and we were still not dead yet. We were still mathematically alive. We lose to the browns and dammit we still have a pulse. Now we are officially fried and I can get off the coaster.
This lost has exposed that our offense is ultra conservative and the coaching staff is to blame, asking a kicker to kick a 60, 53 48 and 48 yard field goals in fairly windy conditions is inexcusible.
Well, when you are put so high on a pedestal and then you are asked to make a 48 yard field goal (and remember that's only 2 yards from a 50 yarder) and you are HUMAN, there is bound to be a little choke.
But the rest of the team, including Henne, sucked so I'm not going to get down on the guy who has been our entire offense for the whole year even if he had a lousy (should I say lousy for missing two 48 yarders and a 61 yarder?) game.

Is Carpenter the only one on the squad who failed to make the plays he is asked to make?

Carpenter did blow it *today*, but he's been absolutely awesome with the exception of today.
perhaps had he not been so dependable all season our offensive game plan would not be"OK GUYS LETS GO OUT THERE AND DRIVE INTO FIELD GOAL RANGE.....barely!!!"
i disagree with you on carpenter but thats not even the point...why is it(or maybe its just me) but does it not seem like as soon as we get remotely into FG range we shut down the offence and go for the FG...to be honest with you at this point i wouldnt be shocked for us to start kicking FGs on 2nd and third down as soon as we are somewhat in range
I was at the game today and had a very good view of the field and what was going on...Henne didn't play badly today except for the ball he forced in which got picked, that was 100% Henne's fault. A thing I noticed all day is that our recivers were not getting open except for underneath routes the vast majority of the time.
Our running game was pathetic except for a couple of plays, Carpenter had a very bad game, the defense was way too lose in coverage all day and we got very little solid pressure on the Bills QB.
The biggest issue was a lack of fire in the players...they were standing around as if they were on the street corner. There was very little passion or intensity and the playcalling and rhythm of the game called by Henning was terrible.
The fans were there and they were loud...Henning should be fired tonight and Sparano should be called in Ross's office and given an ultimatum for the last two games...pick it up drastically or be replaced.
Lastly, Mike Nolan should be promoted immediately to assistant head coach and given a pay raise in order to keep him.

Did you not see the Late Over throw deep in the first quarter wide open and missed? did you not see the throws behind Rec? the throws over the heads of the Rec? I was at the Game, guess my view was better... Heene started to look good in the 4th quarter but other then that it was awful, He held the ball to long he is starting to pat the ball before his throws so that tells the D when he is going to throw so If I was on D it is time to stick my hands up that contributes to all the tipped passes, The D Backs see him looking one way pat the ball now they know where he is going with the ball, throws into double and triple coverage, I was actually a big fan of his to start the year, I fell of that Band wagon.... He makes some great Throws but too many bad ones mixed in, and has a bad decision in every game, those cost you games and seasons.... I realy hope he can turn this around, I figure he will be with this team next year even if we draft a QB...

LOL, yeah ok buddy. That wasn't exactly the Steelers defense we were playing. Our offense plays for field goals and in this case very long field goals. That's pathetic.

Re: Yes, that throw was right in front of me. I agree Henne has to hit that throw. However quite a lot of quarterbacks, great one's even miss deep occasionally.

RE: Yes I did see some high throws and some off target throws however if the receiver catches the ball then it can't be too bad of a throw.

The D Backs see him looking one way

RE: I agree he forces the ball at time and he did that yestarday...but he's a young player and a lot of them do that altough it does have to stop.

Re: Yes, that throw was right in front of me. I agree Henne has to hit that throw. However quite a lot of quarterbacks, great one's even miss deep occasionally.
I totally agree, how can we expect Henne to connect on a 50 yard pass when he can't connect from 10 yards. You're absolutely correct. How dare us to think that he can make such a throw. Dude get over it, Henne is Garbage! Yes yes our OC is caca but our QB is diarrhea
Guys, I realize that there is a lot of frustration and disapointment surrounding the Phins this season and I am definately part of that crowd along with all of you.
And I have said many times this season that Henne has to do a better job and he does...but I also realize that there are a lot of positions on this team that also have to do better jobs too.
However if you take all of those feelings, push them aside and take an objective look at Henne's numbers from yesterdays game you will find that he didn't play a terrible game.
Lets all face it, for a team supposedly constructed to run the ball, to attempt 45 passes against the worst run defense in the league is bad game planning and bad game management. That begins and ends at the top, with Sparano and Henning. Henne is doing what thay are telling him to do, yes sometimes he screws it up, sometimes badly, young players do that. IMHO, Our coaches expect Henne to make perfect throws as far as placement, touch and timing goes and thats just not realistic on each and every throw.
Henne did enough to win this game ...but the distrurbing thing to me is a 6.1 yard per attempt average when you are throwing the ball 45 times is way too low. Our offense is simply too conservative as we have ALL been saying all year and the coaches don't seem to get that.
Henne completed 73.3 percent of his passes...that isn't bad, he threw for 276 yards...that isn't bad either. The one INT was bad however, that was a ball that never should have been thrown and Henne simply forced it in...that almost never works and its his fault entirely.
Our margin for error is so small that any mistake at all is a disaster for the offense...thats the fault of the coaching staff primarily.
The fact is our defense was playing decent, why not play field position and pin them deep. I understand that carpenter was struggling in pregame kicks because of the win. Missing field goals that long gives them the ball anywhere from our 40-45 yard line. That is like a 30 yard return on a kick off. We should have been more aggressive on offense or punted the ball if they want to be that conservative...
I rick, i love the three pointer example, that is sooo right.
