Question about the playoffs

If the Jets lose the next two games and beat Buffalo but we win our last 3 games... who wins the tie-breaker?

It would go to "strength of victory" as the Dolphins' and Jests' division, common-games, and conference records would be the same. "Strength of victory" would compare the records of the teams the Dolphins and Jests beat, and the tiebreaker would go to whichever team has beaten the better opponents (as opposed to "strength of schedule" which looks at all opponents, regardless of whether the team has beaten them or not). Right now, the teams the Dolphins have beaten have won six more games than the teams the Jests have beaten.

It's not just jets we have to beat out. The ravens will probably finish the next three games 2-1 (worst case) so they'll have one of the WC's locked up.

That only leaves one slot for either us, colts, chargers, or the jets as it stands now. Assuming we tie the jets and the others win out, we'll still have to contend with tie-breakers against the others.

Still more scenarios include a collapse of the jags and the chiefs which could allow the colts and/or the chargers to win their division which would leave us competing against them for the final WC spot.

Who knows what's going to happen these next three weeks. All we can do is win out and let the chips fall. smiling bouncing smiley

On the playoff generator this is how it is:

The only way Miami can catch the Jests at this point is for Pitt and Buffalo to beat them assuming Miami wins out of course.

If the Jest lose to Pitt and Chi but beat Buff even if we win out we are done, the Jest win the tiebreaker.

It makes no difference whatsover if the Jest beat Chicago that game is meaningless to Miami's playoff hopes if they win out we have to assume they lose to Pitt and hope for a miracle upset with Buffalo that's the only way we get in should we win out.

San Diego also has to lose at least 1 game but should they win out and take their division we have to hope for Kansas to lose at least 1 game which should not be a problem if Cassell is still out as they looked horrible without him.
