Colt McCoy is definitely Cleveland's guy when he gets healthy. His first game in the NFL was against the Steelers, which he started because the 2 guys in front of him were murdered behind the Browns' crappy offensive line. He played very well.
They would be crazy to let him go. Or draft another 1st round QB. They have much bigger needs.

that's an easy one. You only play 1 QB and have a backup or 2. Every other position except K and P has 4+ players. So drafting 2 OL or 2 WR or even 2 TEs makes sense because you carry a lot of them and can even have many on the field at the same time. You never see a team drafting 2 Ps or 2 Ks. Now true QB is a more important position, but it's important because of quality, not quantity. I just want to see this team, for once, take a QB in the first round and be done with it. Hopefully there is someone this year worthy of it. Beyond Luck, I don't think there are any "sure things."
I have to disagree, I don't beleive Henne will be the starting QB next season. The only way I see this happening is if they do absolutely nothing to upgrade the position.
If they were sold on this guy then why was he benched? A good young QB that's developing doesn't get benched, this is part of the growing pains correct? They were willing to bring in Penni with half an arm left.
I really beleive that the same way they were aggressive with our defense because it was our biggest achilles last year, they will do the same with our QB because it's been our biggest achilles this year.
It just blows my mind to think that these guys won't make a real aggressive move for a QB, trade, free agent, draft I don't care but something has to be done about this position right away. Unfortunately it's the most important position on the field and we just don't have it in this guy.

come on, buddy, surely you see the distinction. I am not against carrying more than 1 QB obviously. But do you want to go into the season with Henne or Thigpen or someone, and a 6th and 7th round rookie QB backing them up? No.

Not another one. Oy vay + Oy vay.
Go back and actually READ what I typed.
Henne + HIGH DRAFT PICK QB + a MID ROUND DRAFTED QB = 3
"There are a bunch of teams picking in front of us (as of now) that have a big need at QB: Carolina, Buffalo, Arizona, Tennessee, San Francisco, Minnesota, Cleveland, Seattle and Oakland."

Phinsfan,
That is more of my point than where we pick. The demand for these top tier guys will be like no other year.
There are alot of good teams that are a good QB away from being competitors, and I am thinking (and unfortunately for us) they will all pick ahead of us.

Again, it makes sense even if you want to draft a No.1 in the draft type QB, that you settle for a backup free agent now and give yourself another year to evaluate Henne with the surrounding cast you draft to support him in this draft.
Then, if he sucks like you say, we will be in a much better position to get THE BEST QB IN 2012.
That way we play it safe. If Henne develops into a world-beater, then you have dodged a bullet. If Henne stinks it up like BigNastyFish has on this board, then you'll get a higher pick in 2012.
But this is the kind of discussion I have been waiting for around here. 4 or 5 people around here are just spouting off that Henne sucks and have no legitimate explanation as to how we fix the so-called problem.
If you tell me that one of these guys would be a franchise QB then I would definitely give up next years #1 to get him.
The whole offence....STARTING with the RUNNING GAME has been a huge disappointment.
We are stilling missing major pieces, players that any QB in the league might struggle without.
Other than Bess and Marshall, we are thin at wideout.
No legitimate starting TE.
Average RB's...hate saying it, but Brown has been a bust this season and Ricky has been an OK backup.
Blaming a 3rd year player and a 2nd year starter for our offensive woes is a little off....rather blame the GM for wiffing on many draft picks.
Cam Newton, Auburn
Jake Locker, Washington
Ryan Mallett, Arkansas "

dolphaholic,
Not only are these three guys, as Phinfan has pointed out, the consensus top-tier guys, they are all mostly likely, top 10 picks.
If any of the fall, it will be Locker. But, I cant see him falling past 15. If he starts to fall past 10 and is the last "top-tier" guy available, teams will be moving up feverously to get him. Mainly, because after Locker, there is a *HUGE* drop off in talent between him and the next group of QB's.
