Future Head Coaching possibilites for our team....

Ultimately,

When things go bad for a company, heads roll. And in this business, those people are Head Coaches and GM's. The two biggest names out there are obvious high profile coaches: Bill Cowher and Jon Gruden.

But, there is one other coach that really intrigues me, largley in part of the success (unfortunately) of his brother, Rex Ryan.

Rob Ryan is almost a mere image of his brother. What do you guys think about him?

Just a wondering thought?

And leave Henne out of this. Please allow this to be a *COACHING* topic.

He is nothing like his brother, he is soft spoken, and yes they are both great defensive minded coachs.

It would be nice to have Rob Ryan, because it would be that much BIGGER a rivalery to his brother, however they are die hard Jets fans, so he won't come here.

I believe I remember Rex wanting to coach in Miami, and intervewing for the HC job, but we decided on Cam Camoron.

i like Cowher for the job. Gruden is out, trust me here. Plus my source says Sporano will likely be here 1 more year. Henning I am told is done after the last game in New England.

I like Sparano, if he had a better O cordinator, then he might be better, our team respect him, and that is ok in my book.

I don't think we need to change coaches at this stage. Henning yes.

This team has shown they can play competitive with anyone. The QB play and the play/depth of the OL is the biggest problem. We need to upgrade the OL and add another QB from somewhere that will at least push Henne for the position.
If that doesn't work then seriously go for drafting a QB in the first round in 2012.

I'm not big in changing QBs either. But after this game I see the need.

Dont open a can of worms, Leon. Leave the thread to coaching.

I say we keep our eyes on Dallas and Minnesota. They both have interim HC's right now, and I'd take either one (Jason Garrett, Leslie Frasier). If either of those teams goes out in the offseason looking for a new coach, then the current interim coach will be looking for a HC job elsewhere.

I can live with sporano as the HC, as long as we keep nolan as the DC and bring in a solid OC. Other than Cowher, none of the other possibilities excite me. We've gone every possible route trying to replace Shula-
former NFL coach with pedigree (JJ)
promote from within loser who never should have been given a job (Wanny)
hotshot college (Saban)
sort-of hotshot coordinator (Cam Moron)
parcell tough guy assistent (Sporano)

sad that none have really worked out---but I'm willing to give sporano another year assuming the above is met

I agree with berkeley, btw. Keep Sparano one more year but replace the OC.

Sporano will be out within 2 years regardless. Ross likes high profile names

fisher could be available, I see him losing the power struggle with vince young as the owner really loves vince. plus it seems like the team has pretty much quit on him. if he's available I'd take him, probably 2d choice only to cowher

Sparano is a high school coach

Henning is a dinosaur

Henne is not the answer

Ross can pull the plug now or wait a few more years just like the Wanny era and by that time it's time to rebuild again.

I would hire Pennington as a coach and work his way up just like Garrett did in Dallas, young coaches are in style now so why not start molding him now before another team snatches him. He's obviously not the answer now but neither is Slim Tony, he was a better coach when he was fat.

Well, the Dolphins wouldn't win many playoff games under Schottenheimer if past history is any indication. That said, at least they'd *get* there.

I think Shotty might be a very good choice. Kinda Dick Vermiel like, in that he has been out a while, didn't win the big one his last go around, and might pull out all the stops in what would be his last rodeo. Also, Shula is a big Shotty fan (if memory serves).

Schottenheimer is one of the most underrated Coaches in NFL history.

I honestly think he is borderline *great*.

Yeah. I think some people forget that his playoff history would look a lot different if not for "the fumble."
