Many do not understand that we have several problems with this team that need to be addressed.
Put any veteran better quarterback on this team (say a Jake Delhomme) and we end up losing due to the other faults in this team.
The real reason I defend Henne is as much out of fear that just dumping Henne and thinking all our problems will be solved with lead to another year (2011) of frustration. Either the "QB is the only player that counts" people will just simply blame the new QB and say he sucks.
That's a real danger too because don't think that Henning and the rest of the gang are not looking to scapegoat Henne.

You keep saying DelHomme, how about Payton Manning or Tom Brady? Why DelHomme? He is not an upgrade....
Now the only way you could say why not Peyton Manning or Tom Brady is if every team could draft a Manning or Brady every year.
32 Mannings or Bradys do not come out in the NFL Draft every year. That's why they are Manning and Brady. They are great! They only come once in a blue moon.
It is totally unrealistic to think that, "Well, let's just draft the next Roger Staubach."
Wow! Why didn't the staff think of that.
Why I keep saying Delhomme is that you are able to draft a Delhomme about every year.
My point is that even if we draft a QB that would be just "average" or "good" (to those of them who say Henne sucks and obviously disagree that he is even average), then with the other pitiful parts of our team, the result would be no different.

Not one person is looking to get rid of Heene for the same grade of Talent we want an Upgrade.... NOT DelHomme he or his type is not an upgrade, is Heene in the top 15 QB,s ? NO! I realy thought he would be in the Top 15 by this time but the Development stoped and I now think this is as good as he will get...

RESPONSE: But the point is that given the fact that Marinos and Bradys only come along in the DRAFT once in a blue moon, all you are liable to get in the draft is "an average starting QB," like Delhomme, not an upgrade. And certainly, no TEAM with a Brees or Brady are going to TRADE him to you. Get it now?
No you do not settle for what we have you try to Improve the position.. You can not get a Brady or Manning unless you go after a young QB and hope he develops... If he does not you Have a Heene like QB and no loss same situation, but you never get anyplace by not trying...
today is the day I stopped defending Henne. He inspires no confidence, wilts when it counts the most, has 3 and outs every time we have the ball, 2 minutes and the game on the line. Completely inconsistent. Doesn't matter what we put around him, he's not a guy we're going to win with.

Manning would last because he hits receivers in stride, looks off his primary before coming back to him, uses the pocket protection, etc, etc, etc..... Henne does not have any excuse whatsover for todays game. Then to see him jogging off the field with his head held high tells me all I need to know, he just doesn't care. Typical AA from Ann Arbor.
For the second half of today's game, the receivers Chad Henne had available to him were:
Davone Bess- an undrafted free agent with 4.7 speed. He is a great slot receiver, but he is ineffective as the flanker or split end.
Marlon Moore- an undrafted free agent from Fresno State who caught 38 passes combined his last 2 years of college. This season, he has 3 catches and 3 drops.
Roberto Wallace- an undrafted free agent from San Diego State who caught 36 passes as a senior. He's been missing practice time with a bad knee for over a month now.

Anybody on our team. Injuries happen and drops can be blamed on receivers but he does not hit his receivers in stride, he stares down his receiver like they are a playboy playmate in their centerfold pose and he has no concept of pocket pressure.

RESPONSE: Let's take the drop. Had it not been a drop, would not you say that was a pass that hit the receiver in stride? Let's take the touchdown. That hit the receiver in stride.
< he stares down his receiver
> like they are a playboy playmate in their

RESPONSE: This may be true but I cannot say from my chair in front of the TV but looking at those games and listening to the criticism of the announcers, I have never heard this said. Maybe the Florida newspaper reporters are so stating but I don't get their papers here in L.A.
and he has no concept of pocket
> pressure.
RESPONSE: I think there were a few plays where he scrambled for advance yardage that contradict that conclusion.
In fact, QBs without pocket presence get sacked far more times than did Henne today.

RESPONSE: Which is what we did with Henne but if we cast him aside when there are other parts of our game not functioning such as 1) catching the ball and 2) play calling, then you will never know if you do or do not have a Brady on your hands.
Look at Drew Brees. The Chargers drafted him and were so disappointed with his performance that they drafted Rivers and replaced him.
If he does not you Have a Heene like

RESPONSE: I'm not saying that we don't draft a quarterback in later rounds next year. Even setting aside Henne's performance alone we should do that because Pennington is finished and Thiggy really shows me what folks have been saying about Henne, i.e., he has really not progressed and his play is really inconsistent.

TRANSLATION: Let's all become Patriots' fans. Better still, Let's convince the Dolphin ownership to disband the franchise so the Patriots never have to worry about us getting in their way again.
BTW, "Dolfan1" probably goes by the name JetsFan1 on the Jets talkboard and posts the same demoralizing crap telling the Jets fans to just give up on their team.
Henne clearly gets flustered when the pocket collapses and makes mistakes. The offensive line needs to get top priority in the off-season with an emphasis on long term stability. They'll make Henne look great.
A 37 QB rating. That doesn't get it done. The 3 picks where his fault. Cleveland scouted well and saw his low trajectory and batted down 3-4 balls. Bowens himself had at least 2
We have to look at the other young QB's and none with this many games under their belt are strugglinmg like Henne is. By this time we should be seeing more.
12 TD 15 INT
he had better protection today than Thigpen did against Chicago.

Yes but he had worse players around him and worse play calling!

He is suppose to hit Hartline in stride instead of underthrowing by about 10 yards and being intercepted.
Stop making excuses he sucked yesterday.

Worse players? Worse play calling? Did you watch the game? He had good protection, a good running game, The D played great and kept giving the ball back to him. Fact is he just plane sucked. Poor decisions and his throws were not accurate.

What..in stating the obvious?
Henne ranks 25th in passer rating. He has 12 touchdown passes and 15 interceptions. Only three quarterbacks have thrown more interceptions.

RESPONSE: That very well may be true, SoCalPhin, that very well may be true. But the point is that as long as so many other elements of our team suck, you are really not going to know that.
To me, Chad Henne is just another version of Ben Rothelisberger. Not the greatest quarterback in the world but a big quarterback who can shake off tacklers with a rocket arm.
The only difference is that Ben has receivers who catch the damn ball and don't whine about it coming too hard.
Ben has offensive coordinators who, if they are beating a team to death with a particular style of playing will keep with it until that other team learns to adjust to it. THEN Ben's Offensive coordinators will shift to something else. Our offensive coordinators stop our running game when it is working AND EVEN STOP OUR PASSING GAME the few times it gets into rhythmn and puts in the Wildcat with other teams figured out last year.
Ben also has playmakers in his defensive secondary who do not drop a total of four sure fire interceptions in the last three weeks alone, the last of which would have ended the Browns game in our favor.
Once, you cure all of those things, then talk to me about a young QB whose only sin is throwing the ball so hard these pansies can't catch it.
