The Fins had several early opportunities that they should have taken advantage of, but never the less, the NFL has some stupid rules. There are three that I can think of off the top of my head
1. The tuck rule
2. The rule that got Detroit in the season opener, come on everyone knew that was a catch and
3. If you fumble in the endzone and there is a scrum and video cannot tell clearly who recover then the offense gets the ball at the 1/2 yard line. Why would they not rely on an offical's observation.

Who thinks this crap up.

Its time to take a good hard look at the rule book and make these rules clear and obvious and not hocus pocus.

My problem with the ruling is that the video does show who recovered the ball. Anytime you have a "scrum"...the bodies get unpiled and whoever gets up with the ball has recovered it. It doesn't matter if the ball changed hands 20 times under the pile. You will never have a camera under the pile.

This ruling basically rewards the offense for fumbling the ball. The defense is punished for creating a great play. The ball should have been placed at the 20 w/ the phins still in the lead and then we run out the clock.
