...about fumbling into the endzone?
I thought the only offensive player eligible to recover it was the one that fumbled it. So unless it was Roeth, it's a touchback no matter what.
Actually, the rule is that either team can "RECOVER" the kick but the Oakland Raider rule you are talking about is that the offensive team cannot ADVANCE the ball with a fumble. So when the offensive team recovers a ball fumbled into the endzone, it goes back to the offensive team at the point of the fumble.
Which is what happened here. So as a result of the bad call ACCOMPANIED BY THE WHISTLE AND FURTHER ACCOMPANIED BY THE REFEREE NOT PICKING APART THE PILE TO DETERMINE WHO RECOVERED THE BALL, WE got royally screwed.
What they did was to, in effect, take away our RIGHT to recover the forward fumble and basing taking the Oakland Raider rule away from us.
The rule is that if they can figure out a reason to screw the Dolphins, they screw the Dolphins.
It is clear that the NFL doesn't care at all about Dolphins fans. There used to be Dolphins fans all over the country, we used to sell the most jerseys, year after year. Now the NFL is doing everything it can to destroy that. I guess too many other teams got jealous, and too many New Yorkers have ended up running the league.
