Nolan's D

So far not impressed.
played OK in the first 2 games, but tonight looked like $#!T.

Does Nolan teach CONTAINMENT?? I've never seen a softer edge.

I think a lot of it has to do with the talent level, or lack there of on the D side of the ball.

Dobbins?
Carpenter?
Allen? Bell?
Smith? Clemmons?
Wake is one dimensional.

Dobbins had a bad game. Wake is still learning the ins and outs of run defense. I'm not worried about Wake (he's a tremendous learner), but Dobbins ain't getting any better. We need Crowder back.

Until they stop playing left/right CB, Jason Allen is going to be covering the other teams best receiver ALL YEAR LONG. SCARY!!!

I think a bigger problem is how many times they are getting called or very close to getting called for 12 men on the field. Nolan's system I'm sure is somewhat complex but these guys should know the substitutions by now. Makes me think the discipline isn't quite where we would expect.

How about simple geometry. Run STRAIGHT towards the sideline instead of diagonally!!!

Absolutely!

I know the players are supposed to be generally between the 40 yard lines ,but it has to make sense to run straight off to the nearest point on the sideline.

What happened to the aggressive/blitzing D that Nolan was supposed to bring??
Not 1 sack, almost zero pressure, and a D that has no concept of outside containment. WTF was that?!!
How bout that corner blitz that had Vonte coming in from the concession stand line. He almost got there!
What a joke!!!
This was the game it was all supposed to come together. Showcase that new and improved D on the big stage.
Hey Mike, your debut was a FLOP!! You better figure something out, and quick. Here comes NE, and Brady is licking his chops!!!

We played against a better team and still the game was close. We made a lot of mistakes last night.
The dolphins are a young talented team. We will be alright.

I don’t think Nolan was the problem last night. We missed WAY TOO MANY TACKLES and suffered from a handful of bonehead plays (see J Allen). There were some good signs and it shouldn’t be discounted how much Odrick and Channing could have helped – let alone Will Allen (which could prove to be a huge loss as the season progresses IMO).

We gave up too many cheap plays (see J Allen) and didn’t get enough pressure on Sanchez – and we were also exposed down the middle (specifically TE coverage) which was an issue last year as well.

But the INT (soft lob in your face) that Langford missed was the real killer because we could have turned the game right there – and Sanchez did his part in making the big bone-head play – but we simply dropped the ball…

But even with all the issues we still had a chance to at least tie the game…

I was saying the same thing. Coach the players to do that and we won't have a problem.

Seems like Nolans D is effective when pass rushing is effective.

I mean that pretty much nails it. This is an attacking defense. We put the QB in pressure situations and hope that our secondary can exploit a mistake.

We had very little pressure last night, and the defense suffered because of it. The bigger question is why couldn't we get pressure? Was it our guys? Were the Jets just that well prepared? Hmmm...

I tell you what it was.

We played the 4-3 all night, instead of some 3-4. He didnt bring many or none realy exotic blitz packages, instead it was pretty vanilla, and also he didnt have Smith on There damn tight end all night.

Why didnt he bring in Wake up the middle, and Dansby on the outside?

Im saying his formations was garbage, and you saw the result, having single coverage on the TD to Edwards was a joke, and Im really pissed off about that play selection complete garbage, and on offense its the same.

Basically the coachs lost us this game, chaulk it up for the coachs.

Again, I say it comes down to Left/Right CB's. The offense dictates personnel matchups on the edges when you stick your players to one side of the field.

I'm sorry but I just don't get it! Why are we the only team that allows offenses to match their best WR's agains our lesser CB's. Until Nolan changes that, we'll suffer against teams that have top tier receivers.

No presure on the QB. crappy field condition Allen & bell losing their footing,

Can Adalius Thomas help?

needed a good TE like hernanadez or Moeki out of the draft, and a good young RB. Our running game looks pretty bad to date.

we seen better creativity in the pre-season! very basic defense sunday, lacked any pressure, void of the blitz, reactionary, not a matter of lack of talent, same talent was on the field against the Vikings and bills, lack of courage or the bend dont break mentality

You know...maybe he can. If he's better than Dobbins, I'd do the swap.

Yeah, but I'm pretty happy with Odrick and Misi. Pretty sure we'd have neither if we drafted McClain.

I'm also assuming he means ILBs, btw. Our OLBs (Wake/Misi) aren't necessarily castoffs.

I didnt say I am not happy with Misi/Odrick.

I am very happy with them. But the fact we need another LB is evident.

If he can EVER get healthy, I think Crowder IS that LB.

Yes our team got dictated too all game long, and it showed bad.

Mike Nolan you owe every fan a explanation, and appology for horrible play selection. Keep that crap up and your fired.

You better stick to what got you famous which is your blitz happy defense.

LOL!!!

We (as fans) need to point our finger right at our coaches and fire them. Make it look just like Donald Trump does on the apprentice.
