clock management

Did you guys notice the poor clock management at the end of each half?

I rewatched the game with the NFL Game Pass and this is what i saw.

At the end of the first half, we took a time out to kick a FG with 21 seconds remaining and then allowed the bills to kick a long FG. Why not take this time out with 1 second remaining???

On our possession in the fourth quarter starting with 5.08 remaining, we snapped the ball while the clock was running with :
- 10 seconds left on 2nd and 1 on our 35 yard line with 4.49 remaining
- 8 seconds left on 1st and 10 on our 39 yard line with 4.11 remaining
- 10 seconds left on 2nd and 2 on our 47 yard line with 3.34 remaining
- 10 seconds left on 1st and 10 on Buffalo 48 yard line with 2.53 remaining
- 3 seconds left on 2nd and 5 on Buffalo 44 yard line with 2.10 remaining

I don't understand why this has happened. I think this clock management could have cost us the game. In the first half, i think that it is Tony Sparano who took the time out, but in the second half, it is Chad Henne who snapped the ball too early each time.

I just wanted to know if any of you guys noticed, and if you see any interest in doing this way???

Anyway, i'm pretty happy with this good road win.

Goo Dolphins!!!! Go Henne!!!!

I was at the game and the only one that really chaffed my ass was with 2:10 to go, we had the 2nd and 5 and we threw an incompletion stopping the clock before the 2 min warning. We were getting a good 4 yrds a carry and Buffalo had no time-outs left. Not a huge deal but at the time I was a little miffed. Not making excuses for Henne but the game clock is not real big in that POS stadium, maybe he was having a hard time locating it or something.

I had the same problem with the pass at 2:10 that was a dumb move

The 4th quarter clock management around the 2 minute warning was a disaster. You MUST make buffalo use their timeouts BEFORE the warning. Not after and extend the game.

As bad as Sparano/Henning was yesterday, Harbaugh/Cam might have just did him one better. My God why throw a pass on 3rd down vs the Jets D with under 2 min to go??? First they run it wide TWICE to take themselves OUT of FG range. Then they throw a pass on 3rd down and let the Jets save a timeout.

Luckily both the Fins and Ravens got away with it

Yeah I didn't feel so bad about us after watching the end of the Jets/Ravens game, both teams screwed up with the clock I thought.

Don't forget passing on 2nd and 6 late with 2:09 in the 4th when we had just run 6 times in a row, getting at least 4 yards each time. That pass went incomplete, and forced us to throw on 3rd down (again incomplete, but at least it was the 2:min warning). A run on second down would have brought us to the 2min warning and allowed another run on 3rd down. At that point, even if we didn't make the first, the Bills would have never had a chance at that safety. What is the coaching staff thinking?!?

I've been bagging on clock management through the pre-season, and it hasn't gotten better. This has been a problem since last year. The coach needs to take a class or something. Maybe Don Shula can help?

I'm re-watching the game now. It burns me up to watch them call a freaking TO on 4th down with 21 seconds left in the half so we can kick a FG! What are these people smoking? Then the end of the game...your 4 minute offense is moving the ball on the ground. Why would you even think about throwing the ball?

I think Sparano has done a better than average job preparing these guys for the game but do they overlook the fact there is a clock management aspect that they have to be familiar with?

I'm happy with the result. Division win...on the road. But by the looks of this game, we're not ready for Minnesota, NE, or possibly even the jests.
