What a waste of time in training camp. They gave all of these 1st team reps to Donald Thomas in practice and in preseason games to only cut him?? No wonder our o-line can't gel? ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? Does this coaching staff have a clue??

So Thomas was good enough for 1st team reps for over a month, but not good enough to make the team???????????

I don't get it.

Sometimes you have to do those things to make a good evaluation. He was given every opportunity, but apparently didn't step up and perform. I was hopeful he would be a dominant player and now we know he might have been less than average.

I don't have much confidence left in this front office with their decisions. I mean some of this stuff is inexcusable

With Hartline and Thomas cut no way we cut Grove now

who are the backup guards now? Jerry and Incognito are the starters I guess. Who am I forgetting? For the life of me with Thomas gone and Hartline hurt I can't think of our other guards?

I guess this means: Grove is the starting C, Berger is the backup swing OG, didn't we also pick up Corey someone or other, who all reports were didn't play well at all? You are telling me we had not room for Thomas? Can't think of anyone else.

BTW, I met Thomas' dad in NE at the Pats game last year. He was one of the nicest guys I've ever met. I was really pulling for Thomas to make it big.

We can still pick up players after cuts to improve on Proctor but it sounds like they like MCQuistan who is similar to Garner in that he can play guard and tackle.

This might be about effort. Thomas wasn't putting in enough.

John Jerry and Richie Incognito have started each preseason game. Donald Thomas did not get first team snaps in the preseason games. And Cory Procter and Nate Garner got some early work in camp with the first team. Thomas had been pretty far down the depth chart for awhile now.

Donald Thomas got 1st team reps throughout training camp and was alternating in preseason games with the 1st team.

I'm sure they've been trying to see if DT could build on his rookie year and improve in other areas. Obviously, he didn't enough to make the team.

Jerry got all the first team snaps at RG. Incognito got most of the reps at LG, with Cory Procter rotating in there some. It was obvious that Thomas had fallen out of favor.

You are getting bad info from somewhere. They have shuffled that o-line around in practice and in games for a month. Thomas got 1st team reps, and lots of them

Look at it this way. Thomas started for the last two years. Thomas gets cut in favor of Proctor, who is our back-up. That means, in the eyes of our coaches, Jerry and Proctor are better than Thomas so our starter and back-up this year are better than our starter the last two years. Throw Incognito into the equation and it makes sense to say we should be significantly improved along the line.

With that being said, maybe somehow Thomas just regressed and all that goes out the window.

Based on the preseason, I think it's out the window. Haven't seen any signs that we have a great O-Line.

I don't doubt that all of the Guards left on the team got some first team reps. At this point, no matter who got cut, you could make the complaint that they were taking reps with the first team.

With the signing of McQuistain the FO felt they had to make a move. Donald Thomas was at the bottom of the list. I'm not sure there is anyone else on the list that was performing any worse.

This could be another guy we sign after Week 1 so we don't guarntee his deal. Not sure teams will be lining up to sign Donald Thomas.

Might be a way to motivate him if the coaches think he is lazy. He would be playing for his paycheck on a non-guarnteed deal.
