Commend you for your discipline. Wish I could do that. My idea of balancing the budget on a Saturday night is poker. Luckily, my better half is a financial wiz. I knew there was some reason I keep her around.

Tough for me to rail on someone who apparently is a genuinely good person at heart, but it looks to me like he blew about 13-15 cents for every dime he made.

Why anyone needs to take almost $25M in loans out for real estate purchases when they've made over $50M in their career is beyond me.

Langford has worked hard and sacrificed alot for his paycheck. And Langford just like any of us here, have every right to spend the honest money earned, however he wants just like anyone else. Some people are in to cars, some music studios, some boats, some collectibles, and some jewelry etc. I think it is bullshit to give Langford a hard time about losing the diamond or the cost. He made a stupid mistake and left it in, no big deal. I have been out surfing or wakeboarding and forgot I took off a nice watch or necklace. We all make mistakes.

Tsstamper, I could not help but laugh at you saying " Who among us has a piece of property worth $50k that isn't insured?"

For me you can cut that sentence short at " Who among us has a piece of property worth $50k . . . " that isn't real estate?

Cars? I drive a 1993 Beamer and also have a 1987 Chevy Wagon. My wife has a 1990 Volvo. So even my autos don't come close.

BTW, I'm at a place where I can't watch the game right now.

Crowder, you're right - he does have every right to spend the money however he wants.

I had a whole bit typed up about 'what if his spending vs. football earning end up with the result that he can't send his kid to college but could have used that $50k to do so'.

I'll spare you that, as in the end, I've projected my values on him. Frankly, unless it was an investment he hoped would appreciate in value, I think it is stupid to buy a diamond for that much money given other options for its investment. I think it's stupid not to insure it no matter what. But, that's nothing more than my perspective.

If the diamond is any indicator of his spending habits and if he isn't fortunate enough to play beyond his rookie contract, then I'd wager he will look back and think to himself that he could have found a better use for that $50k. I sincerely wish him the best and hope that this is nothing more than a blip on his lifetime financial radar.

PS - i just went and read Bradshaw's comments about paying for kids' school. I hadn't read it before typing my comment above. I'm not sure what to think when he and I are thinking the same thing...not sure I'm entirely comfortable with that :-)

Well how old is the guy 24? 25?

He is still young with children.

I am going throught this now, and its harder than you think managing feelings, and doing what is considered right by many.

I hope that he learned a valuable lesson from this, which is to never own expensive jewlery lol...

Bradshaw is a hypocrite and self righteous. I am sure during his young years and playing career or maybe even now, he made purchases that his wife or family or community, snickered at. People are wacked, we all work hard and I do not know a one of us that likes to be told what we can and can not do with our hard earned money. The cost is all relative. All of the people jumping on the bandwagon bashing Langford are not being fair at all. Langford has some disposable income just like Bradshaw. I would like to see a list of Bradshaw's expenditures and then lets us all question the wisdom and judgement of his purchases...But I am guessing Bradshaw would think that is unfair.. Now do you see the point. His friends have the right to rib him about it in good hearted fun, every one else taking shots is not fair. Come on guys, Bradshaw is wrong and being a jerk.

Hell yeah why not?

Travoltra has his own privat jets.

It would be for fun, you ever flown in a fighter? Or a simulator that moved around?

Flying a fighter-jet is the ultimate rush!

Wow I cant believe you wouldnt find it extremely fun to dick around in a fighter jet whenever you wanted?

The freedom of going anywhere, but hey not everyone is up for it so?

In fact the airshow Im going to today, has civilian 2 seater vintage bi-planes that for 50 bucks a pop, you get to be flown around for about 30 mins!! I cant wait dude, and I get to see the Thunder-birds!

An event like that I could see wearing a 50k earring lol... But deffinatly not to football practice, another hard lesson learned.

Well number one, since you seem bent on not thinking we have simular taste then please with a PM enlighten me on the stuff that you like?

I never said you held a vandetta for Mikeo, you did, I just pointed out what I thought was the obvious taken from post that you have typed.

Hey its cool though liking the same team is enough for me to toast!smileys with beer

Sorry but I can't disagree with you more. It is just irresponsible to waste so much money on something so useless. If it is about looking good then there are much cheaper routes to go. An intelligent and responsible person would know better and would, at the very least, insure it. Ignorant football players frequently make poor investments and end up broke. Frivolous spending like that is just stupid. Sure it is his prerogative, but for 50K I can get a whole lot more utils.

It sounds like some of you think Brunell was frivolous with his spending. I could be wrong, but I think he made some investments that went bad, largely due to the housing crisis and the economy in general.
