Jones will never make the practice squad. If we cut him someone will grab him. He is a DRAFT pick and hasn't done anything to warrent getting cut. Plus he is our back-up FS and with the way Clemons is playing, no way he gets cut. It's just not gonna happen.
They won't rush to put Will Allen on IR with the way Sean and Vontae have played thus far. They will keep Will on the roster but inactive for games for as long as they have to before rushing and putting him on IR. Plus his last surgery was very minor he will be back. His problem was he was rushing his comeback doing 2-a-days. Those are over he will be fine in a month.
Jones is our only back-up FS. No way he gets cut. You don't throw away guys you draft unless you have a reason too do so. Jones hasn't done anything yet to justify getting cut and risk losing him. Plus the guy has played a great SS in camp and will take over for Bell there in a year or two. That is his natural position.
No way, no how. In training camp thus far he has made TWICE as many plays as Clemons. He has made more mistakes which is why he can't win the starters job but he has made TWICE as many plays. Those words straight from Sparano's mouth.

Have to agree with this. Jones is our long term solution at FS, and we may even see him starting by mid-season.
Jones didn't play last night due to his foot injury, so I don't know how anyone can say he is playing poorly. What I do know is that last week he played well in coverage and had a couple solid hits. Now this was against 2nd and 3rd teamers, but when he hit a guy it stuck (unlike Clemons).

Yup. Jones has made more plays in camp, but he's still developing.
I wouldn't be surprised to see Jones starting by mid-season. Clemons is supposedly a great practice play, but on the field he seems to have zero impact. If Clemons gets beat a couple times in a real game, the coaching staff may rethink the whole "no mistake" thing and put in Jones.

Your right, my bad. He was second on the team with 5 tackles. I wouldn't call that a bad night.

NFL.com credited him with 2 tackles and 1 assist. He didn't do anything too noteworthy, but didn't hurt himself either. Clemons did have a couple of good plays. He had a nice solo tackle coming up in run sppport, and was credited with one pass defensed on a play over the middle.
But compare him to Amaya, who had a diving interception...(great play!)
Not an interception that just floated into his hands...he actually dove for it...
From what I read, Amaya has been making those plays consistantly throughout camp....
And Hobbs who can play safety and corner, and who had a good game as well..
I think Hobbs and Amaya have the edge... just my 2 cents..
The guy that caught my eye last night was #45, Ross Weaver, rookie corner out of Michigan State. Admittedly, it was late and against the threes, fours, etc, but I seem to remember him from late in the game last week, too.
