Brandon Marshall says he plans to play in the NBA if there is a lock-out. Didn't know he could play. I'm guessing if he get on a team, he'll be deep on a bench. Hope he doesn't get injured on a fake foul call.
What Marshall doesn't know is that after this upcoming NBA season the NBA is gonna have a lockout/strike about 100X worse than the NFL one. They are talking about canceling a season like the NHL did to get the money in line.
The NFL is a cash cow so at some point they will reach a deal. The NBA is dying a slow death and they might pull an NHL if need be.
Doubt Basketball will go the way of Hockey. Hockey has very little TV revenue and not much interest beyond where it is played (and in some place not even that).
If Basketball is screwed, then the reason Basketball is that, with that stupid luxury tax, they don't really have a cap. Otherwise, the biz modle seems fairly solid. They certainly don't have the TV problems that Hockey does, and do fairly well filling the stadiums even in some of the poorer markets.
I wonder if any Basketball players will threaten to play in the NFL. That would be funny.
Marshall was doing great, but now we see the first of his antics start to reveal the man behind the mask. It won't be too long until there is some major controversy.

I'm just hoping this is the worst of it though. Because this was pretty harmless. But I could see a snowball effect as well.

I'll go one step further and say if he is does get locked out that at least trying to make an NBA team will keep him in shape. I see nothing wrong with trying (or stating that you want to try).
Adam Schefter was on the radio today and said after the Marshall interview he did where Brandon said the NBA bit, he texted some people who are close to Marshall and found out that Brandon is serious about this and has been talking about it for a while knowing that in 2011 there will be a NFL work stoppage most likely.
Schefter then said he contacted some Fins sources and found out they are saying over their dead body will he play basketball... lockout or not. And Adam said one Fins source told him that is why they put the option in his contract where the Dolphins have the power to void his deal after 1 year and not take any cap hit (once a cap is in place) or lose any big money aside from the one year.

True, but the underlying issue and Schefter was getting at was
the lockout won't last forever. Miami really has no control over if
there is a lockout or not. So if Marshall does the basketball thing, when the lockout ends he is writing his own ticket out of South Florida.
its a non-issue because both NBA and NFL will be on work stoppages at the same time.
Buy by Marshall bringing it up on ESPN and now with the media cycle keeping the story alive.....its gonna legs whether it has any merit or not. That's the way sports media works in the year 2010
