Iowa is a good school, and he'll have a nice chunk of change and no loans to worry about. Educationally, he's probably way better off than you.
This is a shame. He may have fit in to this scheme, good in pass cover an ST guy. Good depth, he would not have been cut. Hate to lose a young guy like that, but no immediate impact. Interesting to see if he comes back next year.
I tend to disagree Channing Crowder can't cover tight ends. I hope that J. D. Folsom has gotten alot better this year because he has the speed to run with tight ends. I beleive he runs the 40 in the 4.6 range, and maybe he could fill in until Edds can come back next year. If not Maybe Austin Spitler can do it. We can't afford another mismatch with Crowder and his lack of coverage skills.

I am sad to hear we lost Edds. I believe he has lots of potential and would have had some opportunities to help us this year. Injuries are the most frustrating thing about football. It is rather deflating. At least, he was a 2nd teamer. We can't afford to lose any of those starters. Odds are, though, that more are to follow. On the positive side, we already have a 4th round draft pick coming in next year that we will not have had this year.

How about another ho hum prospect linebacker out of Iowa to have gotten injured as a rookie only to become a talented starter... Chad Greenway ring any bells??

Hey Mikey im just trying to keep an optimistic mood around here. To think Edds will actually match Greenway is a bit of a stretch but not 100% unrealistic.

It really varies based on position, but Brady was an enigma. In the modern era, how many 6th rounders are in-line for the Hall of Fame? I think there's only ONE, and that's Brady.
But, when it comes to LB, it's rare that a later round pick will be as good as a guy taken in the first. Then, of course, you could bring up Zach Thomas, but how many OTHER great LBers in the modern era were taken as late as him?

Did Welker get a ring? I think for the next 3 to 4 years if he stays healthy, he will produce some solid yardage, and your right hard for WR's to get in, but I don't know we will see I guess.
