Something you might want to keep in mind regarding the fake looking injuries is that while the guy is rolling around the ground he is not replaced and the game goes on. His team plays with 10 men instead of eleven until he gets back up and joins the action. Nobody gets sent in from the sidelines to replace him. He gets back up on his feet ASAP and plays through the pain. Just as in hockey, you try to draw a foul, just as in hockey sometime you get penalized for bad acting. Without a doubt, these guys are some of best all-round athletes in the world.

I will say Roger Goodell would LOVE to get his hands on FIFA and make some "excessive celebration" penalties after a goal

I get why so many people don't watch it, I really enjoy it. I get amazed at how they go for 90 min with very little rest and if the game goes to extra time it's another 30 minutes of running.

I also get how the fake injuries gets annoying sometimes but sometimes the players need a break, stretch, or just simply try to gain advantage on a play.

I played in college for 4 yrs and love playing the game and enjoy watching it very much. Some of these guys are bigger in their country than any sports figure we have here. We love our sports but in some of these countries they are down right fanatical about it.

Soccer, you cant use your hands, and you cant realy be physical without drawing penalties.

Basicaly the game is "tie your hands behind your back" kick a ball around, untill somone else takes it away "ALOT" and try not to run into them, for fear of the "yellow card/ red card". Field is to big, to many guys on the field would rather watch 9. 5 offensive, 3 defensive, and one goalie, would work better.

Anyways, the sport is cheap I mean just wear a uniform cleats, shin guards, and buy a cheap ball, with a cheap net, then TADA.., fairly easy to learn, and easy to play, if you have stamina.

I think Americans want games that are more complex, and envolve more than just punting a ball around to kick it in a goal. lol almost forgot you can hit it with your head/face? lol...... THAT alone should sum it all up.

I have to jump in here. Soccer is popular world-wide BECAUSE it's cheap and easy to learn, but we have our own version of that: Basketball!! The rules aren't that different (in BB you can't touch the ball with your feet!), and it's cheap and easy to learn as long as you can find a hoop.

Basketball is pretty popular in the U.S. - and worldwide now! Basically, BB is our answer to soccer.

Good point, except the court is smaller MUCH smaller than the ENORMOUS soccer fields, and you dont have 11 players out in one time, only 5. So

Thats the Major differance, and im not big on basketball either because it is mostly dominated by Tall dudes, or guys that can jump into the stratasphere.

To the one or two of you who watched the Netherlands upset Brazil today: how about that?!! What an exciting match....well the goals on highlight replay were exciting, particularly that last goal the Orange scored on that corner kick.

When my favorite teams are not involved, I always root for the underdog. Anyone who plays Brazil....is pretty much an automatic underdog. Goliath has fallen on the pitch today~! Congratulations, Netherlands.

To be honest, after US lost and then we started hearing about refs missing obvious goals, I stopped watching.

The officiating in that sport makes me feel like I'm watching WWF. And Hulk Hogan and Roddy Piper are already out of the match.

Yeah, and for the first time in recent memory, I like both teams in the final! Let me rephrase that. For the first time...I don't hate at least one of the teams in the final!

Spain has been playing clean, solid ball, and the Netherlands team has pullled some great upsets. THat first goal of theirs the other day was one of the best I've ever seen.

Hear about that soccer player in Brazil who killed his actress/model girlfriend, chopped her up and fed her body parts to his dogs!

That is one sick dude! One too many soccer balls to the head I think screwed that guy up!
