decker is gone to denver in third. i would like gilyard, sapp, norwood, thomas. lots of good players. Pitta and Hernandez left at TE too. lots of good players. would be great to pick up another pick or move up in fourth.
Well lets see; we still need another WR and with the greatest one's gone here is whats left of the rest. A couple of them merit consideration in the 4th and 5th rounds and could develop into good players for us...
Mardy Gilyard, 6'0"/179/4.56-40...Cons-smalish, weak blocker, poor performance at senior bowl. Pros-speedy even if not world class, good route runner, good hands, explosive, quick, tough, scrappy.
Carlton Mitchell, 6'4"/212/4.49-40...Cons-not physical enough on contact, dosen't play special teams. Pros-big, tall, long arms, potential for growth, very good speed, quick, big play ability.
Players we may want to take a 5th, 6th, or 7th round flier on...then attempt to develop.
Riley Cooper, 6'3"/214/4.52-40.
Damola Adeniji, 6'3"/219/4.45-40.
David Gettis, 6'3"/217/4.47-40.
Im guessing Sapp and his bum knee won't be an option for the Fins. Seems like we avoid guys with injury issues coming into the draft. Just guessing. Hope Im wrong
I like a number of the OLB prospects left, including Lindsey Witten, Danny Batten, Brandon Lang, Dexter Davis, Austen Lane, and Cameron Sheffield.
And there are a bunch of wide receivers I like, like Gilyard, Mike Williams, Stephen Williams, David Gettis, David Reed, Joe Webb, Jeremy Williams, Marcus Easley, Riley Cooper, and Blair White. This is where the WR crop this year is deep. It was thin at the top, but there are a lot of guys that will go in the next few rounds who could contribute.

Williams is considered a top 5 talent at the WR position. At some point, he's worth taking a chance on.

Camarillo and Turner suck. We could upgrade over those 2 easily. Bess is solid but he dropped some balls last year and had a bad stretch in the middle of the year.

Turner is too slow and can't get on the field, Camarillo has decent size and hands but not much else, Bess is painfully slow at a 4.71/40 and Ginn is gone to S.F.
Hartline has performed well so far (beyond expectations to be honest)but he's still a bit of a question mark going forward. Marshall is our only prototype guy and stand-out player in a league where stand-out receivers are an increasingly large and important part of winning games.
Just because we have guys on the roster like Bess and Camarillo that can play well enough at times does not mean we shouldn't be trying to upgrade them...especially when guys that are closer to the prototype player (IE bigger stronger, faster) are available.
Drafting guys that fit what we need (6'1"+/215+/4.4-40/Good Hands/Strong/Long Arms) and developing them over a season or two is not a bad thing.

I can't defend Turner, but Camarillo does NOT suck. Wasn't he our leading WR 2 season ago? The guy has great hands and knows how to get open. He isn't a #1, and probably not a #2, but he can play the slot. I think he has a chance to hang on as our slot guy.

If Bess continues to drop balls he'll be gone. He's our slowest WR, and he's average, at best, at returning punts.
I remember Camarillo out running the whole Ravens secondary on his way to the end zone. He is not very fast, but he is not slow either. In college he was a 4.55 guy that is plenty fast enough in this league. Remember we drafted a track guy, and now he resides on the West coast. So I will take Camarillo and his sure hands , and route running over speed, and playing scared anyday.

That Ravens game was in 2007. In 2008 he tore his knee up bad. Hasn't been the same since.

Yeah, he was back in 2009. That's only one year. A year where we lost our starting QB, RB and half our O-Line to injury. I'd wait for THIS year to see if he's really lost a step or not.
Jerry Rice wasn't a speed burner either. I know Camarillo is no Jerry Rice just using him to say football instincts, and knowledge of the game can make up for lack of speed.
