JT making Poor Financial Decision?

If all player movement in the league is money-motivated, as some posters on this site insist, do you think that JT really believes that taking short money from a hated division rival to play one season is worth all the endorsement money he is giving up here in Miami? JT's popularity - until now, that is - was just behind Danny's, and he is making MILLIONS in endorsements. JT is something less than popular in NYC, and the fanbase here won't forgive him soon. I don't see him as a viable pitchman in South Florida, or NYC. Maybe he ought to forget this idea. Oh. Too Late.

If you don't think JT will be a hit in NYC your nuts.

First almost every meaningful Jets player has his own radio gig or 30 min TV show. Between SNY, YES, MSG, WFAN, ESPN1050...etc JT will get his fair share of talk time in NYC as well as endorsements. Billboards in Time Square and so on

I agree that JT will get endorsements in NYC....in the short term. BUt in the long term?

Thurman Thomas still gets Buffalo endorsements 20 years after the 'glory days'

In the long run..JT will get some South Florida love...but the will have to wait a few years to let the Green fade off of his rep.

Depends how successful he is. If he plays poorly, they will ride him out of town on a rail, there won't be any endorsements at all. At best, it will be an uphill battle - he's been rather direct about his dislike for Jets' fans.

Not sure how much it will count, but NJ and NY have state and city taxes. We have neither.

Do you people understand he only had 1 offer on the table. Whether he likes the Jets or not. Whether he likes NY/NJ or not, he had no choice. It was the ONLY team that wanted him!! It was his ONLY opportunity to play football.

There was no decision, play for the Jets or possibly don't play at all

I can't believe we didn't even say we'd sign him after the draft. Giving him a "maybe" is just ridiculous. Our FO dropped the ball big-time on this one.

JT's fear is we draft Derrick Morgan (or some OLB in Rd 1)....then in Rd 4 or something we double up and take another OLB. Throw Cam Wake in the mix.

They go to JT and give him a pitty contract of $750K...or they tell him we don't want ya. Now he's stuck with his dick in his hand looking around with no team, no leverage to get a contract, and his family in a mess cause he has kids. He wants to move them to have them in school by the fall.

Agreed. It's a legitimate concern. He did what he had to do. If he stuck with Miami his options were gamble or retire.

At this point, I wouldn't be surprised to see us draft 3 OLBs!

We need a pass rusher OLB and a run-stuffer Matt Roth type. Those are 2 MUSTS. Thankfully finding the Roth run-stuffer type is easy and you can find those guys in Rd 6 or 7

In round 6 or 7 you'll get a guy that can stop the run but probably not much else. At SOLB we need a run-stuffer who can also cover TEs and RBs in pass coverage AND can rush the passer when called on to do so. I agree it's an easier position to fill than WOLB, but it's probably something best filled by a veteran. Rookies will make mistakes at SOLB.

Making a poor financial decision is trying to negotiate your own contract without an attorney/agent.

One you would expect from a brain fried delinquent that would rather go on tour with Lenny Kravits and impregnate a woman at each stop so he can fork over millions to some gold digger and then retire in a pup tent and talk about philosophy and teach yoga.

JT is going to the NUMBER 1 defense in the league in the number one media market in the world, where he will be put in a position to do what he does best...MAKE PLAYS.

Anyone think Rex Ryan won't properly utilize their prize free agent addition?

Anyone think JT is not more motivated to succeed than ever?

If so then you've been hanging out with Ricky Williams too much.
