Now that the GINN family is done dropping passes for us. We will select CJ SPILLER in the 1st round for KR/PR and 2011 RB1

I think they regime has schemed the 1st round, realized SPILLER will be on the board for the taking, and shipped out the old KR. Of course there are always surprises. eye popping smiley

I have read a lot of scouting reports that say the same thing...If you are expecting Spiller to be Chris Johnson, forget it. He is not Chris Johnson. Johnson has always runs tough between the tackles. He did it in college and he does it as a pro. Spiller does not.

And if you don't want to spend a high pick on him....wait until the second round and you can get his twin in Jahvid Best. The difference being Spiller is a better receiver and Best is terrible in pass protection.

These are change of pace RB's and would be a great compliment to a team with a young work horse.

The only 1st round RB I would take is Ryan Mathews.

spiller reminds me of mcfadden and we all know how that turned out--mcfadden is the RB version of Ginn, cough on him and he goes down. I'm worried about college players who dominate by running around and past everybody, b/c you can't get away with that in the nfl

Didn't we pick up a speedy kid from the CFL? Also, of Cobb's healthy he might just take that job back.

If we draft a KR/PR in the Top 12 then Parcells is nuts and is insane. Epecially when your next pick aint' till Rd 3.

Please, no CJ Spiller

I can find an undrafted rookie to return kicks if need be. And with Cobbs, Bess, and Hilliard I'm not worried about kickoff returns. Hell you only see a couple kickoff returns a game anyway. DEFENSE is on the field half the game and we have holes everywhere there.

RE: I don't think that Ginn was drafted with an eye towards special teams play on a consistent basis. I think what Cameron was trying to do was get an offense full of extremely fast guys. Because that would give you a group of players that could not be covered completely by any defense. Imagine five WR's with 4.4 or better speed combined with a running game good enough to keep everyone honest in Ronnie Brown and Patrick Cobbs.

Cameron was simply not afforded the time to make it happen.

Ginn was drafted cause everyone wanted the next "DEVIN HESTER". Everyone saw Chicago go to the super bowl pretty much because of their defense and a KR.

Grossman sucked and their offense was horrible, but everyone figured if you start drives at the 50 yard line cause of your kickoff returner you can mask a bad offense. Throw in the handful of KR/PR touchdowns you get and booom, thats a winning formula.

THAT is the ONLY reason why Ginn was drafted. Blame the Bears for getting to the Super Bowl and blame Hester for running back the opening kickoff in the Super Bowl to lite the fuse of idiots everywhere around the NFL who thought this formula could work!!

I don't think your theory is anywhere close to being the reality here Mike. People that run offenses in the NFL are not that stupid or naive. Even the poor one's are not that shallow in their thinking and regardless of what many may think in Phin-land Cam was not a poor one.

I just posted this comment in a different board but realized that it would be more appropriate here...

The top portion of this draft is weak at running back and I cant stand CJ spiller, i cant believe that he is the top back. Spiller is an underachiever. In the 2008-09 season he had sooooo much preseason hype and who ended up getting most of the carries? James "buster" davis who ended up going in the 6th round to cleveland last year. Spiller is a third round back and the fact that he is number one shows what a weak draft it is at running back...

When you say ohhh look at all the things he can do, you can flank him out side, you can line him up at slot, he can return kicks blaah blaah blaah... that is what you say about a late pick guy that is trying to make the team, not a mid round running back. Tell me about how he can give 23-27 carries per game. Please, wake up.

We won't take Spiller too small to be a running back, and too fragile to be an every down player. Teams that don't have holes to fill take spiller. Teams like us who have definite holes to fill in the draft take your pick do not. The Colts could take Spiller then with his speed the rest of the AFC is in trouble because he does create match up problems for teams. He is too far of a reach at 12, and did we not just trade a player some what small for the position he played who was fast as hell. I think Spiller unfortunately will end up being the Ted Ginn in this years draft class.
