I wonder if we could have done GINN for SANTIONIO HOLMES straight up?!?!!

Wonder if Pitt would have done that. Never know

I hate to see Gin leave but hope he does well for the 49ers.

If we'd have done that, the jets probably would've picked up Marshall. Nahh, I think we got the better deal.

Maybe the coaches agreed with Mike on this one. How about Clayton, or McDuffie? Not really speed guys, but great hands!

The difference with Clayton and McDuffie was that there were speed guys (compared to them) on the team at the time so they complimented each other well.

We don't have any speed guys now at all...Marshall and Hartline while not slow are not speedsters. I still maintain that in todays NFL to be an elite offense you need multiple weapons, size, athletisim and speed.
No doubt that Marshall makes us a better team (if he stays out of trouble) but we still need more speed than we have...

Another 4.5 (giving us three) guy might be able to get it done in combination with Marshall and Hartline but adding a guy 4.4 or better speed (especially so if the guy also has good size) would make us truly dangerous.

The trading of Ginn was exceedingly stupid...but he's gone (nothing can be done about it now) and now we have to replace him. I just hope the coaches realize it.

At some point next season, I don't know when, you are going to turn on SportsCenter and see Ted Ginn, Jr. return a punt or kick-off for a touchdown in a 49ers uniform. Not saying this was a good or bad trade, but just be ready for that moment.

Now that worries me. Cobbs is a sure-handed guy, but he doesn't have the speed to be an good punt returner. I wouldn't use Ginn, either. Has the speed, but terrible hands and poor reactions in a crowd.

uhhh???? WHY??? One had nothing to do with the other. We could have added Marshall and Holmes

The best option to build a team is to have your #2 come from the draft or somewhere that you don't have too pay so much money at WR. Holmes' contract is up after this season, and he's going to miss Weeks 1 through 4.

We have the NFL's highest paid WR already. Hartline will be a good compliment as a #2. I see no reason why he can't produce a thousand yard season in 2010.

Is is really worth a 5th rounder for a player that is only going to play as a #2 option for 12 games and then be a free agent? No.

if your trying to win games, yeah!

We have wasted higher picks on guys who have never made our team. I would use a 5th on a guy who will help us win in 12 games (maybe more)

In a fantasy world, that would've been great...Santonio Holmes lining up opposite Brandon Marshall. However, if we picked up Holmes, there's NO WAY BP pursues another WR w/ baggage. Just wouldn't happen.

Money's no object this year and the jets have plenty to spend. They get Brandon Marshall if we traded Ginn for Holmes. And as I said, we got the better deal.
