This is a moderated phorum for the CIVILIZED discussion of the Miami Dolphins. In this phorum, there are rules and moderators to make sure you abide by the rules. The moderators for this phorum are JC and Colonel.
SI's Peter King is reporting a rumor that Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is infatuated with Dez Bryant but realizes he won't be around when they pick. So he is talking with Bill Parcells that if Bryant is around when the Dolphins pick that we make a draft day trade giving the Cowboys the #12 pick and they give us Miles Austin, the #27 pick and swapping 3rd roun picks. What do you guys think of this? Sounds pretty good to me.
P.S. I don't want to hear about the chart either, this is a good deal.
Are you serious? The Cowboys would do that? Is Peter King just making this stuff up or something?...If you're Dallas, would you give up Miles Austin for a chance that Dez Bryant will be better. Especially knowing that Roy Williams isn't doing that well?... Sounds way too good to be true, but if it is... I'm all aboard!
Jerry Jones is having Dez Bryant in for a personal workout this weekend.
Peter King reports insiders as saying Jones is infatuated with the fact Mayock says Bryant is the next Andre Johnson. And Jones actually believes it to be true. He thinks Bryant is the true "cant-miss" prospect in the 2010 draft.

With our luck we'll make the trade and Jones will prove to be right. At this point, though, I'm all over this trade!
Well good for you. Nobody said it was gonna happen...that's why we have been saying RUMOR. The chances of this actually coming to fruition is slim to none.
Maybe more likely, Jones called Parcells up to see what it would take to move up to #12 and we told him Austin and their 1st. My guess is, Jones said NO. He isn't Mike Ditka!
If that is the rumoured trading price I think we can get more.
There's no way the 'final offer' makes it through the grapevine.
The Trade chart is important. You can't just say screw it, I want that!
OUr pick is worth 1200 points and the 27th pick is worth 680. So how do we get back 520 points?
Austin Miles on his own? sure...that's a high 2nd rounder...which is less than the cost of signing him as a RFA.
Us swapping 3rd rounders gives back 85 points...bringing Miles' 'trade value' to 605 points or a low 1st round pick. I wouldn't pay that for him. He has had 1 break-out season...which is great and all...but a 1st round pick? nuh uh.
It is very hard to believe but the facts are that..
Jones desperately wants to win a SB THIS YEAR.
Jerry Jones did visit with him and will have him in for a workout and knows he will have to trade up to get him.
Jones is sort of turning into Al Davis with questionable moves...giving up way too much for Roy Williams (1-20,3 & 6) and paying him a huge contract. RW had 596/7 tds last year.
Jones gave up two 1st round picks for Joey Galloway. (I believe were Shaun Alexander and Steve Hutchinson).
The problem is that we get pick 27 and move from 43 to 59 in the second round (if true).
I think there is going to be a huge run on DE/LB'er in the top 40 picks. I think 7 or 8 prospects will be gone by 27 and 2-4 more before 59.
I also think Dan Williams will be gone before pick 27.
If Brandon Graham, Jerry Hughes, Sergio Kindle, Sean Weatherspoon, Derrick Morgan, Pierre-Paul, Earl Thomas, Rolando McClain, Daryl Washington and Dan Williams are gone by 27....who do we pick that has value and fills a need?
There will be WR's available with value but no way they take one at this point after getting Austin.
So we end up with Miles Austin and who ???? Terrence Cody, Taylor Mays? The second tier FS's may be gone by 59.

don't worry eesti, this isn't even a RUMOR. Just a local reporter brainstorming. This made no sense on any level.

Dallas wants a 1st and 3rd for Austin. Miami could just call Dallas and say, take our first (#12) and we swap positions in the 3rd.
Miami fills their WR void and gets a legit #1. Plus they keep their 3rd round pick, just a lower one. Use the rest of the picks to fill the NT, OLB, FS positions
Dallas gets a high 1st round pick and a higher 3rd round pick.

How would that be win win for us? Your scenario would be way worse for us Mike, we would not have a 1st rnd pick?
Do you really think that this guy's a "a legit #1" after ONE solid year in a four-year career? He did virtually nothing but return kicks his first three years in the league.

Yeah but in the 1st scenario we got Austin and the 27th pick
