Sparano Press Conference

The highlights..

-Henne is the clear starter

-NO Brandon Marshall or T.O. Happy with the current group of WR's.

-Merling finished the year at 295lbs. There are things he could have done better

Sparano also said Pennington is the #3 QB.

And White and Thigpen will fight it out for the #2 spot.

Looks like Pennington going to PUP might be true. And the reports Penny consulted Warner who all but told him lay low this year, rehab fully, then go to a new team next year and start might also be true!

and Saprano said the team won't carry 4 QB's

Meaning White or Thigpen will be gone I am guessing. OR Penny goes to PUP for 6 weeks, and when he comes back then someone must go. GIves them a chance to buy some time

So reading this at face value, does that mean 1 of those QB's(White/Thig) will be gone after the battle for the BU spot is done?

Of course, it might just mean we don't consider Pat White a QB anymore.

Sparano was quoted today that White and Thigpen are fighting it out for the #2 QB job. So they still consider him a QB

Well, unless a miracle happens, I don't think White stands a prayer up against Thigpen. But, if the team converts White to WR, then he drops of the QB list altogether.

I also just heard on Sirius NFL radio that the big 3 regret taking White. Sounds to me like they're gonna trade him for a box of athletic tape or cut him.

Penny will be traded. Mark my words. At some point, he will be gone.

Some team will have a need for a starting caliber QB by week 8. The Dolphins would not sign him with a no trade clause. CP gets a raise but it will be paid by the new team. Win win situation.

Sparano said there are no plans "at this point" to have White play another position. I don't even see him as worthy of the 3rd QB spot. No way he beats out Thigpen for #2.

I think White will be history and we keep Chad. We could still trade CP and pick up another developmental guy which is typically what the #3 spot is for.

I don't believe Penny plays at all this year. I don't think he wants to from his conversation with Warner has been made somewhat public now. Making him impossible to trade

6 weeks on PUP. Then he returns and holds a clipboard.

Somebody is going to need him. We don't. Penny will be wearing a different UNI at some point.

Maybe the same one the coaches wear?

Sparano came right out and said that the Dolphins "regret" picking their second round draft choice just last year? WOW!

oh, i didn't know what you were talking about.Since you didn't quote I thought you were talking about the original post of the thread.

I didn't hear the SIRIUS radio thing. Im guessing he didn't say that. Just someone confusing facts or what was actually said.

Just Like the "PETER KING IS REPORTING Miles Austin to Miami ". When Peter King isn't reporting anything of the sort. People just confusing information

Maybe so, but what happens to David Lee? Do we replace Lee with Pennington, or is Pennington going to be satisfied as Lee's assistant?

From what has leeked out. Pennington had a long talk with Kurt Warner since Warner went through something similar a few years back. Take a year or so off. Rehab totally, get 100%....dont' play.

Then hit the open market and pick the perfect spot.

David Lee is our next offensive coordinator one Henning retires, so no Lee isn't getting retired.

No, the announcers of the radio program did, can't remember who it was, the noon to 2pm CST show. I realize it's hearsay but they have more inside info then us.

I wouldn't trust those announcers. I listen to SIRIUS NFL Radio all the time and I love it. Byt they arent' tuned into 32 NFL teams like they pass themselves off to be.

Good people work on that station but all of them aren't good and some of them shoot from the hip sometime

I am increasingly befuddled at how inept the dolphins staff are at retaining value for players that they are not going to keep, by what they say in the press.

That however in the case of White may not be much of a secret.

I'll eat my words if they actually get trade value for pennington beyond the clause (extra costsif they trade him).

Thus far they are batting about zero in my book for poor choices and recouping any of it via trades.

- Only winner was by default on the decisions and regaining JT

- Bad ones - Wilford, Roth, Wilson, Porter probably a few other (soon to add Smiley) resulting in big hit costs, limited value while here and lzip when we release them.

I understand sunk cost decisions, but I don't think we play the trade game very well.

you can also make the case that Roth was injured. He wasn't lying like you, and only you, think. And cutting a guy because he was injured and had to miss a few games sets a bad example to the clubhouse.

Works both ways!
