this is what sun sentitnel reported (though I think he's clearly wrong about it being based on this year, not last year, so maybe take it all with a grain of salt)
UPDATE 4:51 p.m: ESPN is reporting some bad news for Dolphins fans: No compensatory picks for the Dolphins, even with the loss of nickel corner Nate Jones to the Broncos (more than offset by the Karlos Dansby signing).
But the Patriots, of all teams, just picked up THREE more third-rounders and a sixth-rounder as compensation for free-agent losses. That gives them SEVEN picks in the first three rounds. Yes, no worse than SEVEN of the top 102 players taken (depending on where those comp picks are slotted). They also have four of the top 53 picks, according to draftinsider.net.

I'm not usually a conspiracy guy, but something is definitely fshy about the pats getting all those pics. none of the guys they lost did squat last year except gaffney and they get all those picks?
lost
Heath Evans, played in 6 games, 5 carries
Jabar Gaffney, 54 catches
Larry Izzo, 12 games, 7 tackles
LaMont Jordan, 25 carries, 86 yars
Lonie Paxton, 1 tackle
Signed
Brandon McGowan, 79 tackles, 3 FF
I'd say that McGowan and Gaffney cancel each other out as both had decent years, and the other 3 players they lost are scrubs. For this they get the most comp picks--again??
