When healthy he puts up league leading numbers,,,its keeping him healthy that's a problem. If he ever put in a full year with our current o line he would lead the league in yardage and TD's.

Use him up. Then let him walk when his contract ends. That seems to be the approach of the front office.

What players have we run ragged up until their contract was up and then dumped instead of re-signing to a big payday?

Zach Thomas, Jason Taylor, Dan Marino...
None of those players fit that description
1. The current front office didn't run Zach Thomas rugged and then cut him when his contract was up instead of giving him a big pay day. He never even played for them. They cut him immediately when they got here. And his contract wasn't up, nor was he due for a big pay day at the time
2. Jason Taylor also didn't play for this front office when they came in. They traded him. We signed him back to a 1 year deal and he played well for us, but we didn't exactly run him rugged. Whether we re-sign him or not is still up in the air at this point
3. This front office had nothing to do with Dan Marino
i really felt bad for patrick cobbs when he went down . thought he was a hard runner . ronnie brown , eh well see how he does . hes proved himself a few times now .
Older Running Backs have little to no value in this league. You see very few trades for RB's. Let alone older ones which Ronnie is about to enter now being in the league 5 years. He's almost used up as is. The life-span of a RB in this league is short and they fall off the cliff very fast.
LT is a perfect example.
Use him up the final 2 years of his deal. Let him walk. He will go sign as a backup someplace for a year or two then his career is over. And thats it.
What's been proven by many teams is if you have a good O-Line that can run block, most RBs in the league can look good. Ronnie's special talent was running the wildcat. If we move away from that then he's not much different than any other RB we have.

At what cost? I don't care how hard he plays if he's always getting injured. His injuries hurt us as much as his good play helps us. It's a wash.
I usually think of examples in the NBA. Jamal Mashburn comes to mind. He was one of the best small forwards in the league...when he was healthy. Problem is, he usually got hurt just before the playoffs, and that doomed the Heat year-after-year. Eventually they had to get rid of him.
He's a gamer. He's a warrior out there, and he's a guy you want going into the battle that is the NFL. When you have a capable back-up, you go ALL OUT. Injuries are part of the game. I rather have a guy that goes 100% and gets hurt for 1/3 the year, than someone who avoids injuries by giving 75%, avoids contact, and sqeeks by.

This is sad, watch when Ronnie puts up huge numbers next year I wanna see how eager you guys are to just let him go.
I understand its a business but Ronnie is still young and has gas in the tank to recover and come back. He's one of those guys who gives 100% and that is rare now a days. If he gets injured again, its only obvious to let him go but I give him the benefit of the doubt this next season. I can feel a good year coming up for ronnie.

Ronnie will be here for 2 more years. So YES, if Ronnie is great next year in 2 years I will STILL want him gone! By then he will be done
I happen to agree with Mike on this one, use him till his contract is up and let him walk. It would be nice if someone would give us a 1st rnd pick for him, but practically impossible

we won't get much for him though. better off keeping him for the last 2 years of his deal
Ronnie is not here for two more years. He has a 1 year tender on the table. If he accepts it, 2010 will be his 6th year of service, and he will be an unrestricted free agent in 2011.
Ronnie's durability will certainly be an issue with this front office. If he comes back and has a big 2010, maybe they'll think he's worth the money. I wish they would use Ronnie in the passing game more. I think that's the best part of his game.
