I think Pat White is too small to play in the NFL.
I do think Pat will win out the #3 QB job (if we keep Pennington) just because we took him in Rd 2...and Thigpen will be cut. That 5th for Thigpen was a trade of necessity LAST year cause once Pennington went down we had nobody to back up Henne. If Penny is back, Thigpen can go. A 5 round picked got wasted, oh well life moves on. It needed to be wasted to save last year incase the "OH S#IT" scenerio happened.
I love the idea of using White as a WR. The key is to get him into the open field. A quick snap and lateral throw would be a great play. It would give White the option of running if the defender is playing off the line or stopping and throwing downfield!
How about bringing back the double-reverse? We have the O-line for it! Henne hands to White who either hands it or fakes it to Tedd Ginn. Then, again, he can run or throw.
Ultimately, White may be a better option in the slot over Bess or Camarillo.
I think we blew it big time in acquiring White for a 2nd rounder.
Perhaps fueled by leaning to the wcat at the time, it is time to admit the mistake and see if we cant get some value out of the error (yes I think it was a blunder).
If he can be converted as a WR great, quite frankly I question it, and have been very un-impressed with his demostrated on field quickness (or lack of) when in at QB.
- He doesn't scare anybody and has been very ineffective thus far. I am actually surprised he got as much opportunity as he did this year.
I'd prefer to keep Thigpen and own up to the mistake.
im sure he is a good guy and all , but why and how is this guy taking a spot on our roster . we have an excellent no 3 receiver in Bess . please , let the pat white experiment quietly go away . i can only imagine what goes on in Hennes mind when he takes the team downfield 80 yrds only to see a guy like pat white come in and take over his drive . lord help us . we need it .

I really don't understand the Bess lovefest. He's slow and had numerous drops and fumbles last year. I know his life is a feel-good story, but he's, at best, an average WR and a below-average PR.

Pat White needs to stay and be used as a situational player allowing him to learn how to play the quarterback position in the NFL from Pennington.
In the mean time we keep Thigpen as our #2/#3 QB and use White as a RB, WR, KR, PR...thus allowing the team to get value out of him by getting him on the field...while he learns.

No offense intended, but why do we think Pat White can play any of these situational positions?
I honestly have been very underwhelmed at his speed, agility or elusiveness from the playing time he has received.
I would think that from the QB position you should get a lot better looks for a run option than a RB would, and from the Wildcat, we should have seen him show promise as a receiver or passer.
I have no experience base to know his skills as a KR or PR, but have not seen him as elusive or tough enough for the job
Would you guys seriously cut Thigpen and keep Pennington if it came down to that?
That's delusional. Just comparing Thigpen's brief play with the significant limitations of Pennington, even when he was healthy, including the inability to throw the long ball, tell me that's crazy.
Of course, getting rid of either to keep Pat White at quarterback is beyond crazy. You have to be on the secret payroll of the Patriots, Jets, and Bills to advocate that.
