Which roles does KD fill? He is a good all around LB'er. He can rush well but probably not full time, cover with 4.54 speed, tackle and force turnovers.

1. 3-4 WOLB – This job requires you to rush the passer about 70 percent of downs.
2. 3-4 WILB – A banger that can plug the run and rush the passer from ILB 1 out of 3 downs.
3. 3-4 SILB – A smart, athletic player that can rush 1 out of 4 downs from ILB and collect tackles.
4. 3-4 SOLB – Needs to be good in coverage and on the TE, only rushes 50 percent.

5. 2-4 WOLB – Optional to be a hand-on-ground guy, is the primary pressure guy on pass downs.
6. 2-4 WILB – Must be very smart, and good in coverage, backing up and keeping things in front.
7. 2-4 SILB – Must be athletic enough to run with players in coverage.
8. 2-4 SOLB – Must be a dynamic pass rusher and be able to do damage from an up position.

Agreed, but versatility is the key and will give us depth. JT can play SOLB as well and Dansby can move inside. So, if (when?) Crowder goes down with an injury (doesn't he usually miss 1-2 games a year?), we could move Dansby over and plug JT in at SOLB. I think we cut may be cutting Torbor too.

Dansby has proved to be a consistent 110 tackle guy. As such, I think we will use him in Channing Crowder's Mike role. Crowder does not have the consistency. Dansby is not great in man to man coverage. But he is really good dropping into passing lanes and protecting the middle of the field. Again, I think this makes him a natural fit in the role where Crowder has struggled.

I think JT will be brought back as guy that can get plenty of snaps at SOLB, WOLB, and DE in certain pass rushing situations.

I think Torbor will be kept and allowed to compete with Crowder for the other inside LB spot. Torbor was an Auburn teammate of Dansby, and I bet was used to help convince him to sign with us.

Whatever position he played in Arizona he should play in Miami. He became a STAR playing that position. Why change it up?

Why pay a guy huge money, make him one of the highest paid linebackers and then switch his position and/or role. Whatever he was doing in Arizona was working, don't mess with it.

I agree. He should stay on the inside and it sounds as if that's where he play. Nolan will have him blitzing more from there anyway and he can get back closer to his role in the 2006 season where he had 8 sacks as an ILB.

Our best bet would be to add a SOLB high in the draft.

Nolan did a great job with the D in Denver last year but they wore down late in the year. He did that with lesser talent than what is currently in Miami. He could do great things with Dansby, Wake and Taylor if they bring him back.

That was in a 3-4 defense. He moved inside when they went to a 3-4.

I wasn't implying, I was assuming.

Based on the fact that my thread victoriously entitled "YUP!" and subsequent first-on-the-scene post, breaking the news of the Dansby signing was now buried under a different late-to-the-scene thread (Welcome Mr Dansby) wherein my post was the 5th one down, despite being time stamped at 7:56pm a whole 9 minutes before the first post of this second imitation thread (no offense Jim cool smiley, brutally violating the law of chronilogical order of posts that is supposed to govern the phins.com chat board. Naturally I'm disillusioned by this whole situation.

However, the mystery was solved after reading this post in response to my whistle blowing:

Again I'm assuming, but I take the above to mean that it was PF2 who committed this atrocity. Though his point may be valid. The point is it was the board moderators who manipulated the order and record of the release of information in an attempt to deceive the public. Next time I'll think of a better subject title than an otherwise unknown celebratory phrase my high school friends would shout in a context such as this.

I'll take that box of shortbreads now smiling smiley
