The Chargers stopped making stupid peronell moves with Ryan Leaf. If they are letting him go, there is a good reason. We need to get younger, not older at running back.

ooooooooooooooooo. I still think that trading Drew Brees was pretty stupid. But I'm a Boilermaker at heart.
Well LT is not the superstar he once was, he's lost his breakaway speed. But is lateral movement and acceleration is still as good as ever. He'd be a good on a team that needs an inside the red-zone kind of TD maker. Some one will grab him, probably won't be us...but someone will.

RESPONSE: Yes, it is true that they did not "trade" him. My memory was that they got rid of him, not precisely how. But they certainly did not want to re-sign him. They let him go. That was the point with respect to the subject of whether the stupidity of San Diego ended with the Ryan Leaf debacle.
When I wrote the post, I was aware of his injury. I also realize it was a risk but like I said, I'm a Boiler at heart and I was hoping that Miami, as a poster above said about New Orleans not being the only team looking at him, would get him.
So we were unfortunate for passing on him but I still think the Chargers were stupid in not (shall I say) re-signing him.
Maybe the rumors of trading Ronnie Brown are true! If we trade Ronnie, I could see us signing LT. It gives us insurance if Ricky goes down, ang just imagine that backfield (RW and LT at the same time!).
LT's press conference yesterday was billed as a "Fairwell to San Diego" press conference given his release.
I kinda got the funny "vibe" that it was a retirement from football press conference. He did a lot of crying and although there is a certain sentiment to be expected from a sentimental fellow like him on that count alone, I also have the sneaky suspicion that he was such a great back in his time, he might be that rare exception that might just want to go out on top which was more the rule than the exception in the 40's, 50's, and 60's (although Babe Ruth kept playing long past his time).

If we have a backfield of LT and RW we will have one of the worst running games in the NFL. LT was horrible last year and has been horrible. The guy has nothing left.
Come on guys this is a uncapped year, and he is a all time great. I would sign him to a one year deal, and have ONE HECK OF A BACKFIELD!!! Heck sign Westbrook too!

Westbrook to Minny sounds like it might happen if he doesn't retire. He is a Childress guy
