Oshi Atogwe...I just commented on him in the sticky at the top but he seems to be overlooked by many. Was not even on the list of FA's put out by Armondo at the Herald.

This would be a great acquisition.

Unless they reach a new CBA, then he's not an unrestricted free agent. If it's an uncapped year, he'd need 6 years of service to be an unrestricted free agent, and he only has 5. Since they franchised him last year, the Rams will likely give him a 1st and 3rd rd pick tender to keep him on board for 2010.

I say we offer them Merling straight up. They need a LDE to play opposite Chris Long.

I'd rather have Merling than Chris Long. He hasn't done squat since being a starter.

Why are you guys still wanting to trade Merling!? That is one of the most stupid ideas in a looong time. What happens if Starks or Langford get banged up? Or both get banged up???

If you trade Merling, then you have to address depth issues at that position during the draft......WHY!??!!!???

Stupid idea.

What happens if we can't find starters at the FS, ROLB, ILB, LOLB, NT & WR positions with only 6 draft picks and a pathetic FA class?

What happens if we go into the season status quo with Gerbil Wilson at FS and we give up more leads after controlling 45 minutes of the game clock.

If Starks or Langford get banged up then we turn to Tony McDaniel, Lionel Dotsen, Ryan Baker or Ikaika Alama-Francis. The other backups.

Starters are more important than backups in case you haven't noticed.

If you can get a STARTING pro bowl caliber FS for the price of a backup then you do it. The only thing stupid about it, is if you don't do it.

I like Merling, he was a productive backup but the 33rd pick has been beaten out by two 3rd rounders...you know....guys that were drafted to be backups...and Starks is becoming an elite player and that's who Merling backs up so he isn't taking the job from him.

So let me get this straight. If you have an opportunity to trade Patrick Cobbs (backup) for Miles Austin (starter), you pass because you need depth? Right.

OJ Atogwe was tendered the lowest possible option.

He does not require draft compensation. Only right of first refusal which means he could be lost to poison pill.
