I have been a Ted Ginn supporter until he proved to me this year that I shouldn't be. This guy doesn't make catches a #2, #3, or even a #4 pro receiver routinely makes, much less those of a #1. Any ball that hits any professional receiver in both hands should be caught, especially if the receiver is not getting hit at the same time. It can't be said (though perhaps it should be) that Ginn has lost games by himself, but he's not holding his end up, either. He's not doing his job. In a position such as his, one of the so-called "skill' players on the team, he can effect a game more than many other players do. He simply does not get the job done, time after time. I'm disappointed to have to say so, but it can no longer be denied.
I always thought ginn would make a good corner!..coming out of high school i think he was the top rated corner or something like that, I would love to try him at corner, it will take a season or two for him to learn techniques and all that but still, i think he can be good
I think we might be able to get as high as a 3rd for him. I was talking to a Buffalo fan, and they really like the guy. Other team's fans I have spoken to feel the same way. They don't watch him every week, they just know he has tremendous speed. I think he needs a change of scenery, if just for his own sake. If we can get a three (or a four, for that matter) for him, we ought to grab it.
Ginn would be a great deep threat if we had a wr that was a good all round threat. Who we going to get though? Uncapped year, means NO number one will be available, but i tell you this im sensing a trade with Calvin Johnson.

The thing is, if you take away his 2 TD kick returns, he's averaging a very pedestrian 22 yards per return. And he's fumbled 6 punts in 3 seasons. Maybe on his next team, they'll use him just as a returner, and he'll emerge like Desmond Howard did. I don't think there's any way this regime keeps him around at his salary to be a return specialist. Plus, when you consider that we need a major talent infusion at WR, I doubt we'll have room on the roster for a return specialist who is not going to contribute at WR.

Problem is we are NOT thin on talent at CB. Next year Will Allen will be back. Add to the mix our current starters (Sean Smith and Vontae Davis) and our current 3rd CB (Nate Jones) and you have some serious talent at CB. There's no room for someone like Ginn (who hasn't played CB since highschool!) in that group.
The only thing that MIGHT make sense is to move Sean Smith to FS. Thing is, I'd be dead-set against that. Jason Allen struggled with being moved from CB to Safety (and back to CB ) early in his career, and I hate to lose a tremendous talent like Smith at CB.
Our best bet is to acquire (through the draft or trade) a true #1 WR, put Hartline next to him, play Bess in the slot and keep Camarillo as our 4th WR. Then play Ginn exclusively at KR and PR and try to restructure his contract once we have a new CBA.
One more wrinkle is the return of Cobbs, who is a decent KR and PR himself, but with Ricky retiring after next season, I think it's time to start playing Cobbs more at RB and less on special teams.
