Anybody know the status? Is he done for the year?

What options are out there on the street for us?

We have DE Ryan Baker on the practice squad. One possibility would be to start playing him or Lionel Dotson at DE, and use McDaniel at NT, although he's really too tall for the position. I don't want to move Starks there because he is really coming into his own at DE.

Not having Fergie for the rest of the year is really going to hurt big time. The RB Situation is better to deal with because we happened to be deep at the position.




But on the other handFerg, no one has his size and skills on our roster, we are will probably have to convert to a 4-3 until next year when hopefully we sign a big DT or grab one off the FA market. Wilfork? are you with us.

Honestly Fergunsons career is probably over and I want to take this brief moment to thank him for his contributions this year and last. Thanks Fergie

Well...if we still had Patrick Cobbs I'd agree with you. Fact is, we're accustomed to playing 3 RBs each game (excluding Polite). With Ricky and Hilliard as the only healthy experienced RBs on our team, it limits our options on offense.

As for NT, we'll be fine if Soliai capitalizes on this opportunity and plays with consistency. He has the physical tools to be a very good NT in this league. He's quick and powerful and BIG (bigger than Ferguson!).

Terrance Taylor from Michigan is on the Panthers' practice squad. Before the draft, Taylor said that the Dolphins had shown the most interest in him. Maybe he's a guy that we target. He's a strong dude. He did 37 reps of 225 at the combine, best among d-linemen.

I think Starks may be a real possibility for us at nose tackle. He's about the same height and weight as Ferguson. He's more athletic than Ferguson. He's young, and could solve our long term problem nose tackle wise. I'd hate to lose him as a defensive end, but if he can develop into a solid nose tackle, we have greater depth at end... ie Merling.

When we signed him from the Titans, a Titans' personnel man told one of the beat writers that a 3-4 DE was Starks' best position. This was in a response to being asked if Starks was a possible future NT. I think we've found one of the pieces to the puzzle with Starks as a good all around DE, one who can stop the run and rush the passer. I wouldn't mess with him.

I thought it was interesting to read today that he actually has a quadriceps injury, not a torn knee ligament.

He's still out for the year, but his recovery should hopefully be somewhat easier from a quad injury, let's hope.

Hmmm....I hope so as well. I think we need to draft Terrance Cody to make sure....Fergy is a beast and no other DT on our team can do what Fergy does.

Just get us our stud ILB first, then think about a NT. I'd be ok getting a FA at NT. We did pretty well with Ferguson!

Rolando McClain is the only viable 1st round ILB.

If he is gone by the time we pick, our pick will go somewhere else.

The news seems to be that Soliai practiced fully which is good news. Hopefully he will step up to the plate.

DT is a tricky position to draft in Rd 1. Because these guys are so BIG (literally) that some if not most these days once they get that first big contract after being drafted in Rd 1........they become fat and lazy and are never the same player they were in college. The examples are endlist.

I would hope we address DT via free agency and go the more established route there. I would rather draft a speed pass rusher in Rd 1.

Well I hope we can get Taylor Mays, Eric Berry or Rolando McClain in the first and pick up Mount Cody in the 2nd.
