Reason to vote for Indianapolis. As of yet, if we beat NE in Miami and tie their record at the end of the year, We win the division by reason of a better division record and a split with the Patriots.
Reason to vote for New England. Our worst nightmare would be an Undefeated Indianapolis facing an Undefeated New Orleans in the SuperBowl. This may be one of the few remaining chances to give Indy a loss and that way if they make it to the Super Bowl against the Saints, we can pray that they play the same role the New York Giants played for us.
I'd rather have 5 teams go undefeated than the Patriots win.
Actually, in all seriousness, I wouldn't mind the Saints going undefeated in the regular season because it would completely overshadow the Patriots "undefeated" season. People would make less of a big deal about it if another team did it just a couple years later.
Our undefeated season is really all we have anymore to hang our hats on. The anguish of watching the undefeated fall one by one every season must end. Give us something new to shoot for every year besides what our ancestors did 35 years ago. This season is what matters now and we need to keep NE in our sights. GO INDY

I have to agree with Ranger here...the undefeated season is THE milestone in all of sports...period. No team can claim it except us...thats worth cherishing and sacraficing to protect and preserve.
If I have to see the Pats win (despite what I think of them as a team) to help preserve it, then so be it.

In all of sports.....easy there. We aren't the only team (let alone Pro Football team) to have a perfect season though. Lots of teams can claim it. 7 NCAA Basketball teams. 2 NFL teams. 5 Woman NCAA hoops teams. The 1948 Cleveland Browns had a perfect season capped by winning the championship and were the first to do it in football. Then maybe the most impressive ones ever are the 71-72 and 72-73 UCLA mens basketball team that had BACK-TO-BACK perfect seasons and overall and 88 game win streak.
Back-to-Back PERFECT SEASONS will never be done again!
Im sorry I love the record as much as everyone but I have to say I hate the Pats more than anything. Jets are a close second but I cant stand the Pats. Seeing Indys record they still have Baltimore and Denver left and I have faith that one of those two can pull an upset. We say that Huston wasnt too far away. I just cant do it Hooligan is right, its blasphemy.
I am older. I hate the Patriots. But I hated the Colts under Bert Jones. I hated the Jets under Joe Willy Namath. I hated the Bills under O.J.
Rivalries come and go and change but one thing remains and that is 17-0.
Yeah, there may be other perfect seasons but in modern pro football that is it.
We aren't on this board because we are college basketball or pro baseball fans but because we are pro football fans.
To us, all that should matter is not how many other pro teams in other sports can lay claim to an undefeated season but the NFL.
And, don't forget this, if the Colts or Saints go undefeated, WE WILL NOT SHARE THE DISTINCTION.
We only went 14-0 and then 17-0.
If a team nowadays goes undefeated throughout the SuperBowl, they will be 16-0 and 19-0. We might not even be a footnote because who cares if another team went undefeated in a lesser number of games. The only reasoning that would even get us a footnote would be on the basis that there were only 14 games in those days and perhaps if there had been more, we might have won more. But I think that will be the end of that mention.\
No, I am rooting for the Patriots.
Besides, if someone else beats New Orleans, we can root for the Saints to beat the Patriots later on in the year.
In any event, all we need is someone to beat the Patriots and us not lose while we beat the Patriots in Miami to give us the division.

The Cleveland Brown of the old All American Football league did it. But they and the San Francisco 49ers were the only teams even worth talking about. Both joined the NFL.
The NFL, which has dominated Pro Football from it's conseption, has had only ONE undefeated team, and we know who that is.
Both the Saints and Colts will lose a game this season. Although the Saints have best chance to do it.

Mike...no where in my post did I say that it had never, ever, been done before and no where did I say that the Phins were the ONLY team to do it. Yes I am correct to say that it is "THE MILESTONE" in all of sports because EVERYONE wants to do it. Its the goal of every team, everywhere.
Root for the Colts. It's a no-brainer. Indy has some glaring holes on their team. Peyton Manning can only take them so far. Someone else will beat them. May even be someone from their own division! It's not that far fetched.
root for the colts.. they will lose to someone down the line anyways and phins need the pats loss more. The colts will DEFINITELY not go undefeated even if they beat the pats tomorrow

Perfect season in a doo-doo football league.
The Browns were NOT MEMBERS OF THE NFL in 1948.
What if the XFL in its, what, one-year existence, yielded a team with an undefeated record? Would that hold a candle to the Dolphins 1972 achievement, in the eyes of a rational person? Nope.
AFL? Who mentioned the AFL? Do you even know what league the Browns were in back then (guess not). I don't blame you, hardly anyone has heard of the league they were in. It was called the AAFC.
Hahaha nice try, but it was YOU who were comparing the NFL to the All-America Football Conference. My bringing up the XFL (another football league that was short-lived and insignificant relative to the NFL) was to illustrate the point that a fly-by-night football league such as the AAFC is noway comparable to the NFL.
The AAFC existed for all of FOUR SEASONS...whip-de-doo! Wow, what a tradition!
Im rooting for the Colts, Im the type of person who hopes the patriots team plane crashes on their way to the game, so you know....im not rooting for the patsies.

RESPONSE: The first thing you got wrong, or maybe you just forgot it, is that there is not just ONE undefeated team BUT TWO! And there are in different conferences.
If they meet in the SuperBowl BYE BYE 72 Dolphins.
Secondly, you are relying on a lot of "ifs" even if you are thinking about the Colts.
Thirdly, if I were near you, I would stick a thermometer in your mouth for actually wanting ANY TEAM to go into the SuperBowl undefeated. When the Pats did it, I could hardly breate AND NOT DAMMIT BECAUSE IT WAS THE PATS. IT WAS AND IS ALL ABOUT THE 72 DOLPHINS. I cried, Actually cried, when the Giants won.
You young Cats are not really Dolphin fans if that is not the most important thing in the world to you.
Hell, I suffered through FOUR STRAIGHT YEARS OF THE BUFFALO BILLS and Thurman Thomas sticking it to us and Thurman Thomas insulting us on national TV calling us all kinda names.
Hell yeah, I feel more intensely about Thurman Thomas and the Buffalo Bills than I EVER WILL about the New England Patriots and Tom Brady.
And besides, WE ARE ONLY REALLY ONE GAME BEHIND THE PATRIOTS PROVIDED WE BEAT THEM IN MIAMI.
It's no big deal! Therefore, by saying you want Indy OR THE SAINTS (which will happen if they meet in the SuperBowl) to take away our most precious possession, to come into our trophy room and take away the most valuable trophy, you guys are letting your hatred of the Patriots run away with you. You are CRAZY!
Yeah, the Patriots run up the score on people. Yeah, they took film of other teams practicing. But THEY HAVE TWO LOSSES! It's no big friggin deal! Let them WIN tonight and maybe someone will take care of the Saints and them let the Saints take care of them.
