Another face job by the Dolphins was when the Jets won the coin toss and cRyan elected to kick-off so he could get his "vaunted" defense on the field first.
How'd that work our cRyan?? Try an 80 yd, 7 1/2 minute drive ending with #23 slamming it in from the 1. CLASSIC!!!!!

I don't think Ryan chose to kick off; I believe he elected to defer the choice until the second half, which you can do now in the NFL. If he had said "we'll kick", the Dolphins would have had the choice to start the third period, and presumably would have taken the ball.

Also I live in the tristate area so I hear jets radio and people are calling for rex's job since he did not call time outs when we were going down for our last drive so that they could conserve clock and give sanchez more time to score... I love fair weather fans, lord knows we have our fair share.

Well, typically when a team "defers", they have won the toss and usually control how they will start the game, on offense or defense.
Of coarse we take the ball, or we'd be kicking off to them twice.
cRyan wanted his D on the field, that's why he defered.

New rule in the NFL this year. If you win the toss, you can choose to receive the kickoff in the 3rd quarter. It used to be that if you chose to kick off, the other team would get the ball to start the 1st and 3rd quarters.

Are you sure about that? That doesn't sound familiar at all.

It used to be that if you won the coin toss, you had the option in the 1st quarter to recieved the ball or pick the direction your offense would go and the other team has the option in the 3rd quarter. Every team who has the choice of field direction or recieving the ball pretty much picks to recieved the ball.
