Ok, where do I start after a game like that. I barely slept. I was so excited, the future of our team has maybe never looked brighter (since 1984) at the QB position. So, lets dive right in.
1. QB position- There were some points during the game I was almost speechless at the play of Chad Henne. Not just for his physical play, but his mental ability to stand in the pocket, make smart decisions and his poise was the best Ive seen since Marino...including Chad Pennington.
2. Bar none..Ronnie Brown is the 2nd best RB in the NFL behind Adrian Peterson...and his is pretty close to him. For all its worth due to the wildcat Ronnie might actually be a more valuable to our team due to what he does.
3. WR position....Im going to be real hesitant on this. Great showing...but it was only one game. But all aspects looked very good. Cammarillo, Bess and Hartline were great underneath and did everything asked of them. Cammarillo especially on the last drive. Now on to Mr. Ginn....what happened last night is exactly what he was drafted at #9 for.
If Ginn only does this once every other game or so....he is fulfilling his purpose. We have the #1 ranked running game without a legitimate deep threat (I believe because of the QB position) but now with Henne in there I think that has changed. What are D coordinators gonna do now? Our running game with a dep threat is lethal! LETHAL!
4. Our D- Not that good...but we are young. Merling, Langford, V. Davis and Sean Smith is my hope for this D. Hopefully they mature and our D gets better throughout the season. Our Safeties look average and we dont have a stud MLB.
> Just connecting with Ginn last night will improve our offense all season. Teams now have to account for the deep pass when he's on the field. That opens up more seams and soft spots for Camarillio, Bess and Hartline to exploit.
I hear you but I'm waaaay to greedy for that. I'm ready for a passing game that give other teams no answers, like when manning comes to town.
- With the running game we have, the play action pass is a pisser
- can't wait to see what we come up with for the saints with an off week.
I agree. Huge, HUGE play. Not just for the game, but for the team and the season.
When you prove you can burn teams like that, then they have to fear it and defend it, and that opens up everything else, the dump off, the running plays, short underneath, etc etc
Fear the deep ball. We now have it. We're coming for you!
1. Ginn better be ready to bring it every week, cause the excuses are history.
- The rock will be there so don't be waiting on it!
2. Either Ginn or another speedster will be hauling one in for the Fins
Keep in mind that two things (mak that 3 things) are coming together at the same time:
- Run is well established
- OL is now both run blocking AND pass protecting better than ever
- Henne has the arm (and now the time) to put it there in stride
I will just tell you this Ranger, Im pleasantly surprised with my job here in Iraq. I thought I would not have access to email or football games for that matter.

PJ,
so true!
I have never hated on Ginn, but on the other hand I don't see any reason to say he deserved to picked at #9. But it was done and the folks who did it are done too. If he does show up and starts finding himself catching passes behind the secondary more often I will be thrilled. If not, someone else will be doing it. One big catch does not make a career (or we would all be singing derrius thompsons praises), but this one was certainly a hopeful sign.
I agree with Curt in his on porpoise. The guy could be a very capapble #2.
