What do we lose with Pennington Gone?

As I ask myself this question, I invite you to add your thoughts.

To me at risk (not necessarily irrreplaceable):

1. Ball controll offense

- Run Game control
- Accurate short passing
- Leadership

2. Few QB mistakes and turnovers

Henne Upside - Possibilities with Henne at helm:

1. Ability to hit the long ball passes
- Coningent upon protection and progress in reading defenses, as well as the coaches designing plays to give him time

2. Hopefully short pass options to use ronnie brown and TEs more ... quick release options

3. Red zone offense.

Henne Risks:

1. Turnovers - If not protected
2. Less time of possession if we can't grind out first downs.

If we were 3-0 we would miss a lot. Meaning pennington threw 4 or 5 td passes and everything was great.

But it wasn't great, pennington threw just 1 td pass in the first game to ricky williams and that was it.

He wasn't doing all that great. Maybe because we are not talented enough with receivers tends etc. I do not know.

But the fact is look at the first 2 and a half games.

We won't lose much with pennington gone IMO

I wish he was healthy though, because his leadership is priceless.

EDIT.....And we would have a better chance of straighening things out on offense.

1. Agree with A & O about the experience loss. Hard to replace.

2. There may indeed be an upside to the loss.

The losses however, I have a hard time pinning on Penny, but there is room for opportunity to come out of it evern better.

- Game 1 we lost due to mistakes and a weak OL performance, one mistake by pennington for a turnover. IMHO we should have won that game.

- Game 2 Pennington and the offense did all that was needed to win. Defense needs to own that loss. Offense could have improved on red zone .

- Game 3 was weak offensively and signals the need for the coaching staff to take a hard look at red zone performance and some starting positions on offense and defense.

Let's hope the bad news turns into good news and the Henne era starts with a spark for winning! thumbs up

Prediction - Miami 27 Buf 20

I think Pennington actually threw multiple TD passes, particularly against Indy. Problem is, our receivers didn't CATCH them!

We have a lot of young players on offense and we play a lot of young players on offense. Chad was the guy who kept everyone in line and kept order on the field.

With him gone I expect a few delay of games, a few illegal formations and such. But its the growing pains we all have to live with. Peyton Manning threw 28 INT's his rookie year, so you have to live with the growing pains. Give Henne time. The Ryan/Flacco/Sanchez thing is the new fad, but they had ENTIRE training camps with the 1st team offenses to work out kinks. Henne has never had that, so you can't expect those same results immediatly

Notice i say Quote because our receivers and tends are not talented enough.......on my post

I probably sounded like it was a shot at pennington but it wasn't. If we had receivers that actually can catch, pennington throws 3 td passes and we win that game against indi.

Fasano not talented enough to go up in the air and grab that pass in the endzone....

And the same goes for ginn the only difference is that ginn is afraid to get hit. Fasano isnt............Fasano went up in the air and hit the ground like a ton of bricks........

Too good to be true. But you know what they say.....

"anything is possible"

PS. Maybe the receivers will give him some help and hold on to the ball for a change.
