Despite picking up Thigpen, Should Miami consider, or should have considered going for Jeff Garcia?

He's an experienced vet (more so than Thigpen) but might signal low confidence in Henne or for Pennington to return.

Thoughts?

Maybe we need to go west coast? The east cost isn't winning us games!

Truth is we went D early in the draft and reached on White and a big, slow receiver from USC and things haven't panned out so far,

If we liked Thigpen why didn't we go after him instead of White, he was available after the cassel acquisition?

Well, it would be difficult given Chad Henne, Pat White and NOW Thigpen, I mean who would be given the boot?

But let me get at the real intent of your post.

Assume both Thigpen and Garcia were free agents. I would have picked Garcia in a heartbeat.

This team needs experienced reliable veterans backing up at quarterback.

Tyler Thigpen?

We're not looking for a long term answer, PhinsFan.

We're looking for someone who can run the team if Henne goes down, not someone who we are looking at to compete with Henne, and if the team is good enough to make the playoffs, who won't take us out by his inexperience.

Unlike what I am getting that you are saying, I am not saying replace Henne. I'm saying that Henne needs a backup.

Right now we have three quarterbacks, all with three years or less experience.

If Henne goes down and we are in the playoff hunt facing other teams fighting tooth and nail for playoff berths themselves, whether in our division or for some other division, I would rather have a seasoned Jeff Garcia than only Tyler Thigpen and Pat White.

We are only 1 season removed from a 1-15 season. It makes no sense to bring in a 40 year old QB on any level whatsoever!!
