Lex Hilliard Deserves to Make the Team

Hilliard has probably had the best pre-season of any running back.
He is a fricken "BEAST".....

His fumble was on a mean hit...(not his fault)

I would keep 4 RB's and 1 FB

Keep 5 WR's (Bess,Ginn,Camarillo,Hartline and London)
Put Turner on Practice squad.

I agree, but I'd keep Turner over London.

I don't think we can slide Turner or London onto the practice squad.

What about releasing Polite? he is only 5 lbs heavier than Hilliard.

Lex is a beast, if he can catch and block, it might be the option that provides the most upside.

Haven't we put a TE in the backfield as a blocker?

I like Hilliard too.

Dude, have you gone senile or something? Your posts used be so insightful. Now they're just questionable. Polite is a guaranteed 1-2 yards! That makes a huge difference and 3rd or 4th and short. Hilliard hasn't proven he can do that consistently.

Since when is a FB's weight the gating factor as to whether he's good or not? I'd rather have Jerome Bettis than Ironhead Heyward.

I agree with keeping 5 WRs and 4 RBs. How many opportunities would the 6th WR get to play in the regular game? That player's contribution will likely be on ST. Cobbs and Hilliard both play ST. I don't honestly think London is going to turn out to be something special. If that was true, Sparano wouldn't have played Turner and Hartline so much more in preseason than London.

I agree 4 running backs, trade London, or Turner, or both to Denver, and pick up Marshall. hot smiley

Turner is a monster.......Marshall is a head case and a thug.

I dont care lol at 25 years old i think Sparano would turn him into a respectable player, not to mention he lives in Orlando!! More family support! And Turner is 80 percent more likely to not be as good as a wr as Marshall, and who knows how he is outside of football?

I read that at today's practice Hilliard was practicing at FB.

So Sparano must be going insane too.

You have to weigh flexibility.

Polite is a guaranteed 1-2 yards on 3rd and short and 4th and short. I love him.

They loved him at first too. They started throwing him the ball, but he ran with his shoulders away from the QB, adjusted slowly, and missed some opportunities. But they still value what he can do...get short yardage.

Polite is 6'0" 245 lbs.

Hilliard is 5'11" 240.

They both run a 4.6 40, but Hilliard has lateral movement and is a better ball carrier.

So the team has to ask themselves.....which guy offers more? Well we have Brown, Williams, and Cobbs...but hilliard was a beast in pre-season and got some good yards in tight areas. Polite as we agree is great at short yardage and blocking.

well....what if Hilliard can block and pick up a tough 2 yards on 3rd and 2?

Releasing Polite gives them a FB/TB who can run like Alstott, AND allows them to keep Turner and London.

Our WR is a bigger need, more frequent injuries. Last year we went with 5 and for a game or two could barely field 3.

Someone has to go...I like all of them.

The other thing to consider is which player could hurt us more if he got signed by the Jets/Bills/Pats? Hilliard? London? Polite?

They are trying Hilliard at FB to find a way to keep him..and that means
Polite will be out.

Watch this week to see if they give Lex a 3rd and 1 or a 4th and 1.

I have a feeling, maybe just maybe we sign 5 wr's and trade to aquire Marshall, thus signing 4 running backs.

The value of a guy that can get you 1-2 yards guaranteed cannot be overstated. I say keep both as well, regardless of STs play.

Hilliard is now working as the backup fullback. Looks like they are trying to find ways to justify keeping him.

Miami can carry 4 Rb's. It's not unheard of. New England might carry 5 this year.

Technically it WOULD be 5: Ronnie, Ricky, Cobbs, Hilliard, Polite.
