Should Penningon call his own plays?

Penny is one of the smartest QBs in the league. I think it's a foregone conclusion that he will be a coach after he's done playing. That said, I'd like to see Sparano give him a chance to call his own plays and speed up the offense as a consequence. Griese did it, and it worked out pretty good for us back then. Penny loves running the 2 minute offense and no-huddle. Jim Kelly made his career running that kind of offense almost the entire game.
I'm not suggesting this be the norm for entire games, but I think this could work in certain circumstances. I'd like to see us try it!

A&O, you miss the point. Processing plays from the sidelines takes time, giving the defense time to substitute and adjust. With Penny making his own calls the offense can run faster and keep the defense on its heels. I can't remember how many times I've seen a team gain momentum when on the next play there is a delay with the play call and the wind seems to dissipate from their sails.
Penny stated last season that he preferred the 2 minute drill because it gives him more freedom as well as the opportunity to run no-huddle. Most starting QBs in the league would LOVE to call their own plays. The ones that don't want to are mindless robots.
Does any QB in the NFL currently call their own plays? I thought that went out with the dodo bird. Especially with radios in the helmets and all, it's got to be so easy to just radio it in.

Hey, we brought back the single-wing (i.e. Wildcat). Why not this too?
