Chris Williams was listed as waived/injured on the official site. Also notice that not only was Wilford cut, but so was Orion Martin. When you include Eric Green, that means that 3 out of 5 of our Va Tech players have been cut so far. Is Brandon Frye next? I think Jake Grove is safe though.

Are you implying that Jake Long went to VT?

Releasing Williams this early means we won't even try to stach him on the praqctice squad.

Unless his injury is significant enough to keep another team from signing him until after September 5th.

This regime does not tolerate repeated mistakes.

He is too raw.

Williams broke two bones in his fragile little hand on the muffed punt return.

I knew from the moment that punt bounced off his face, into the hands of Carolina, who then turned into 7 pts, he was gone!!
He also bobbled a couple others. I think he got popped a few times and turned a bit sketchy.
Has the speed, but not the stones to be a PR in the NFL.

Williams has shown that he can play the game, and it's baffling that no one has had any patience with him. Ginn would screw up everything he caught when he played special teams, we've had a lot of disappointments back there, it's a tough position. I think Williams should NOT have been forced to play with a broken hand. That muffed punt might never have happened.

Some other team will pick him up if we can't keep him on injured reserve.

That's the difference between an undrafted free agent and a high 1st-round draft pick. It all depends on how much the team has invested in you.

I didn't know his hand was already broken; I thought he broke the bones in his finger(s) when the ball bounced off his facemask and hit his hand the wrong way. Injured hand or not, the ball hit his facemask first, didn't it?

Catching the kick is about 75% of the job for a kick returner. How many times in practice do they catch kicks. If he can't do it in the game, even though it can be only one play, it's crucial.
