Who will be the next player cut?

I think the main reasons Green was cut so soon was because he had a big contract and also to give the other CB's some work...as well as give him a chance to catch on somewhere else.

Roster cut downs aren't until Sept. 1 (to 75) and Sept. 5 (to 53).

That's 12 days away for the first cut. We may not see many let go until then.

one week from Tuesday is the cut down to 75 which is not a big deal as I think we are at 72 after the last 6 releases.

That means we don't have make any more cuts until Sept. 05 when we will have to trim 19 players.

Joe Cohen
Orion Martin
Tearrius George
Anthony Kimble
Chris Williams

All released today...

Andy Alleman traded to KC so take him off the list.

That makes 3 positions available.

We may have gotten a 6th rounder for him.

I had high hopes for Rodrique Wright when he was drafted. Looks like this might be the end of the road for him as a Dolphin. I'm guessing his lack of significant play since being drafted makes him untradeable.

I'm wondering if we keep 4 or 5 DE's. I am thinking 4.

Sounds like the FO may be shopping one of our DE's for a draft pick. Some believe Lionel Dotson can be a starter for another 3-4 team.

LDE Langford, McDaniels
RDE Starks, Merling, Dotson

Who is going to be kept for Langford's backup? Do we keep 4 or 5?

Merling has been back working at backup RDE.

Dotson is more off a pass rusher and has been working at RDE.

That Leaves McDaniels, Baker and Wright with McD the most likely to stick.

So Dotson will stay if we keep 5 and Baker with Wright being shopped and possibly Dotson if we get a good enough offer.

Tonight will be the tryout for another team. I look for Lionel to work on 3rd downs with the 1st team at some point.

I wonder if Parcells and Ireland have played an fantasy football. They have been shrewd with trades. It would be great if we could continue to get value for players who would only be cut otherwise.

If a team doesn't want to get into a bidding war or take a chance on losing a good player then sometimes they have to give up draft picks.

Hopefully we can get something for one of our OLB's as well. There could be a few available.

An NFL source has told me the Dolphins tried to trade Ernest Wilford before terminating his contract but no one was interested. And the Dolphins are not averse to conducting further business both on the giving and receiving end of a trade if the player and the price is right. In fact, GM Jeff Ireland has been working the phones with over a dozen teams in the past 10 days, I'm told.

They also said we are open to trading to get a player. That could be interesting.
