I have no problem with this, especially compared to the other celebrity stakeholders. The Williams sisters live in s. Fl and they're athletes.

Ross doesn't have a pot to piss in (in comparison to other Billionares).

And everyone just can't wait and think its gonna be the greatest day when the Marlins leave the stadium and get their own stadium. The Marlins pay rent. And lots of it for their 81 home games. That money goes straight to the Dolphins owner and into the Dolphins pocket. The Miami Dolphins will NEVER be able to replace that rent they get from the Marlins. The Dolphins bottom line is gonna be hurt big-time. You will see it effect the way the Dolphins go after free agents and their payroll. Expect the Fins to have a very very modest salary cap not coming close to the max

Good god Mikeo. A trip to the superbowl, or at least championship game will make up for the "loss of rent."

how in the world will a trip to the super bowl or the conf championship game make up for lost rent of 81 baseball games a year from now till the end of time?? Im dying to hear that explanation.

I say probably not

I go for opening the stock to the Phins.com players. We could all put in a 10 to 20 bucks. That should help out don't you think?

Ross needs investors, so he's going for celebrities who might drag people to the game.

I guess the theory is that someone on the fence about buying a ticket (or more likely if their SPOUSE or date is on the fence about it) might take the plunge if their favorite singer/actor/tennis player/whoever is going to be there.

Can you imagine it? Honey I really don't like football that much, just get two tickets, one for you and your buddy---oh wait! Marc Antony might be there! (squeal)?! I'm TOTALLY going to ask Muffy to come with us, get FOUR tickets!!!

That's an extreme silly example but maybe that's what their going for.

One of the funniest things Jim Mandich ever said on the air was about Serena, a few years ago. I was visiting Miami at the time, driving around listening to MadDog's show. He was complimenting Serena's looks and how physically fit she was, but then mentioned that she might be ... too much woman for him.

His quote was something along the lines that she was hot, had a smokin' body, but "I don't know....she might do some damage in the bedroom to a man.. I mean, I don't think I could go Fifteen Rounds with Serena"

I almost drove off the road. The next 10 calls he took were from guys who had separately thought the same thing.

My typing what he said doesn't convey how funny it really was, because Mandich has a unique delivery combined with his own way with words. Cracked me up.

ETA: my point in bringing this up other than the anecdote itself was that Mandich may likely find himself interviewing Serena at one point in the near future. I wonder if she knows what he said, and how he'll react around her. Should be funny, especially if his listeners call him up about this.
