Bring Back VONNIE HOLLIDAY

Seriously, its Aug 2nd, first day of camp. Vonnie is still a free agent. He wants to return to Miami. The Dolphins aren't soo deep on the D-line that they don't have an open spot. I like Phillip Merling but we aren't 100% sure he is an every down player YET for us (some day he will be but this year? Who knows).....I hope we scoop Vonnie Holliday up before someone else does.

Vonnie deserves to be a part of this team... this year, after last year

BURP, excuse me, anyway i think its on him, and how much he is willing to play for. At his age his days are realy numbered, so if he is willing to take vet min or close to it i feel the brass would invest into him. I hope he talks with jason taylor and does what he did, but i dought it.

WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT??? Vonnie was cut. It wasn't about the money. He needs to be offered the Vet Minimum before he can accept it.

Holliday is one player id wish they would bring back..He brings leadership and experience. I think he had a decent season last year.

He can play both the DT and DE position. I think he still has a lot to offer a team.

I was too young to remember him but I've seen films and heard stories. He was a beast.

I remember him. We used to laugh at the name. Very fitting for a Dolphin player as a Wahoo is a sport fish. Don't remember many on that first team, but the coaches son, Wilson, was one of the QBs.
Very fitting name for a wrestler too.

I remember him as a wrestler. He was one of my favorites as a kid. His move was the tomahawk chop on top of the head.

Vonnie being cut was all about Money and roster bonus. Expect the phins to sign Vonnie back this week and yes, at more than the vet minimum. Vonnie can still play and has good years left. He played well and will do so again...........mark this down.....Vonnie Signs this week with the phins.....you heard it hear FIRST!

I don't think it will be that soon if it even happens. They need to get a good look at McDaniels, and Dotsen first. If it happens which I doubt, it will be around the 3rd preseason game if he is still available.

I think Indy should sign him to play DT.

The coaching staff accomplishes both by waiting.

1. VH doesn't need a lot of reps and training camp to be ready to play. As a vet he can come in and be an asset later, and at the right price.

- Risk if another team wants him enough t pay him ... so be it. So far no takers, and he likely wants to play here anyway.

2. Getting the young guys reps is also consistent with waiting a while. At the same time it gives reps to merlin and mcdaniel to see what we have without VH.

3. If the price is right and we're not getting the demonstrated upgrade / for the price and overall quality ... I expect the FO will get it done.

- In the while as noted ... no one is beating down VH's door so the wait give VH a training camp pass and the FO a chance to evaluate what they have. The option is still there to get depth at a value.

- The big question is ... what kind of shap is VH staying in?

Depth is very important and VH still has something left.

I was thinking the same day the other day.

Tim Graham, of ESPN.com, reports free-agent DL Vonnie Holliday (Dolphins) thought he deserved better from the Miami Dolphins after the team released him Monday, March 2, although he understand the move was strictly business. Holliday was due a $1.5 million roster bonus Tuesday, March 3. His salary-cap number for this season would have been $5.75 million. "There's no loyalty in this league," Holliday said. "Everybody throws that word around, but at the end of the day, it's a business. It's about numbers. I've seen it happen in this business before. I've been around a long time. Now I'm that guy. But I have no hard feelings towards the Dolphins."

yeah right....

Brian Biggane, of the Palm Beach Post, reports Cary Fabricant, agent for unrestricted free-agent DL Vonnie Holliday (Dolphins), said it likely will be a few weeks into training camp before Holliday signs with a team.

Pride may keep him away from Miami but there are too many teams switching to a 3-4 this year for him not to get a job. DE's in 3-4's are hard to find and some of those teams with slowly switch over and run a hybrid system. Vonnie is an asset because he can play 4-3 DT and 3-4 DE. Packers, Detroit and Denver have all looked at him.

This regime is stingy with draft picks but gave up a 6th round for McD because ireland has a man crush on him. Parcels told Ireland that if he gave up the pick, he had to get it back....which he did but McD will get every chance to earn a spot.

Compared to some of the other guys who are getting lost in the shuffle like Rod Wright and Ryan baker, McD is lining up with the first team.

Final DE's....Merling, Langford, Starks & McD

The only way VH gets that kind of money is from some team thats desperate because of injuries.

Going to the Patriots to get some revenge...could happen. It's either Dimetry Giovonni Holliday or Kevin Carter.

No official word yet up here about Holliday being signed by the Pats. In fact they're hinting otherwise, for what it's worth (not much) :

"Nothing appears to be imminent between the Patriots and veteran defensive lineman Vonnie Holliday, whom the team hosted earlier this week."
