Dolphins draft
Date: July 14, 2009 06:54PM
It looks like 6 out of 9 players from this year will have a great shot of making the team this year.
This is a one player improvement over last years draft (5 out of 9).
Vontae Davis
Sean Smith
Pat White
Chris Clemons
Patrick Turner
Brian Hartline
Last year 4 out of 9 put themselves in a position to make a strong contribution. (Merling, Long, Langford and Thomas)
Can we be so lucky (as fans) to see 5 players this year put themselves in a position to make their presence felt?
I can see Hartline, Turner and Clemons making a serious bid to significantly upgrade our special teams. (Turner making London expendable)
Beyond that I can see Clemons contributing on defense as a reserve FS and possibly a nickle or dime back. I would not be real surprised to see him supplant Gibril Wilson at some point this season.
I see Turner making a serious impact in the red zone and as a 3rd down receiver and chain mover. Add Hartline to the category as a guy with good hands who can make an impact with his brains and ability to catch the ball in traffic.
I see Sean Smith starting opposite Will Allen and Vontae Davis getting significant playing time and as Allen's eventual replacement.
Pat White in the Wildcat...going in motion with Ronnie at QB and also playing QB in the WC.
So...6 rookies making the team and making an impact...sure would be nice..and not too far fetched either from what we have seen of them in their "pajamas".
Nick Saban, Dave Wannestedt, Cam Cameron, Randy Mueller, Rick Speilman...take note. This is how you build a championship dynasty ala NE of the 00's, Dallas of the 90's, SF of the 80's and of course the Dolphins of the 70's.
