If the reports that were leaked to the media are accurate, that Fangio thinks certain players on the Dolphins defense lack discipline and commitment then, a young DC is going to have a difficult time getting their attention and McDaniels is going to have to get involved. Fangio had the defense rated in the top 5 towards the end of the season. There's no denying that he's one of the great defensive minds in pro football yet, being the highest paid assistant coach in the NFL wasn't enough to get him to stay in Miami.
McDaniels has his work cut out for him.
Weaver has twice been passed over for the DC gig in Baltimore, twice.
That doesn't sound too promising.

That is likely the case, although the older DC (Fangio) also had a difficult time getting their attention. I honestly believe coaches should be paid as much as the top players because their job is so difficult. I couldn't imagine dealing with the primadonnas and crybabies.
Hes an ex linemen. I think he will relate quite easily. Again....get behind resigning Wilkins. You have him in your corner is a great 1st step. Shows others , do your job I'm gonna back you.
Weaver should be a good DC. Ravens run a good organization and tolerate no weak links in the chain. NP w/ him getting passed over. Look at the guys that got the job over him. Now he is ready. Younger players react to coaches who command their respect. They don't respect a coach they don't listen, that simple. Fangio wasn't fully engaging the player's because it appears that he really did not want to be in MIA. Other words he was half assing and player's detect that. Yeah you are yelling but your a** does not want to be here, screw off. That is the usual feeling.
Just chatting w/ some guys from the Bmore area this morning and brought up Weaver. They said good choice by the Phins. I understand he was popular w/ the players and 1 or 2 could follow him to MIA. Not only popular but demanding, no concerns that he was not the DC (they said he is certainly qualified) and some in the org thought he should have replaced Martindale.
