I can't wait to see our pass rushers this year. It is being reported that the defense will line up like this in passing situations...

LE Porter/Taylor
DT Merling
DT Starks
RE Taylor/Porter

Yeah, they were practicing on passing downs like that. I can't wait. I believe in practice they called the defense "suffocating."

I was worried at first about the D, with Holiday gone, uncertainty in the NT position, and being mediocre inside. But then they signed JT, which should pump Porter up, and talked about how well Roth is doing. Ferguson seems to be getting his 2nd wind, and even Crowder is talking about racheting up his game.

No doubt we're a better team. If we can run the damn ball, then I think we'll be in pretty good shape.

As of now we are ok everywhere exept the OL....Not because of talent but we have some players that are injury prone and that worries me.

QB...........More than ok
RB...........Excellent
TE...........Great
WR...........We have some depth here

DL...........Good
DT...........OK
OLB..........JT and JP make this position a strengh
ILB..........We are ok i think crowder roth and wake take it to the next level this year.
CB...........IMO it will be one of the most improved positions on this team.........Vontae and smith one of them develop into a great players IMO both will develop at least into solid players.

Hope you are right, but I think it's way early to expect a lot out of the new kids.

Hope they learn a lot faster than Jason Allen did.

On the other hand we could only go up from last year in that area. We're going to need some good coaching to get the chemistry right, so i'm hesitantly optimistic.

Wake played DE in the CFL, and he's projected as an OLB. Roth is an OLB, but there were discussions about moving him inside (although they haven't tried it yet). At ILB we have Crowder and (ahem) Ayodele...and no one else worth anything.

I was looking over SamSam's good/excellent/ok list and couldn't bring myself to say "great" at any one position. I think I can say we're good. We earned our title last year, it wasn't luck, but it was due to team play and good coaching, not stellar talent.

Looks like it will be the same this year.

There's been a lot of change in the defense, with JT back, Wake, new corners, etc, and we need all of that to gell. It looks like we'll be solid, be able to bring it. We have to, because we're not a quick strike offense.

Last year, we had problems running the ball, and since we didn't help the O like all that much, it will be an area which continues to be a challenge. We need to run the ball, and Penny can then continue to sprinkle in the pass.

We'll see. Long isn't a rookie anymore, and Carey will finally have 2 consecutive years at the same position. In our style of offense, Grove will be an upgrade over Satele. Having Thomas back (assuming he can stay healthy) will be a HUGE upgrade from the revolving doors we had at RG last year. Finally, if Smiley can stay healthy we SHOULD see a significant improvement on our O-Line. I have my fingers crossed.

I meant talent wise...........

Especially at the rb position. If all three stay healthy we have as much talent and depth at the rb position as anybody in the league.

I agree we are in very good shape at the Tackle position....As well as the center position as long as jake grove stays healthy...Burger is a capable backup. EK and Alleman got some experience last year although i really do not count much on them.

Smilley i think comes back and hopefully stays healthy this year. Lets remember he hasnt been healthy on the last couple of years.

And im counting on donald thomas to be able to play this year. He said he is going to be ready for training camp.

Everything looks good for the start of training camp. Hopefully we start the season healthy and stay healthy for an entire yaer for a change.

PS. Smilley interviewed and he said he feels great and is 100 percent...
