Taylor, Ginn, Bess, Camarillo...I think we're in pretty good shape at WR. We don't need to give up young talent or draft picks for Marshall. Now if a decent OG, NT, or ILB becomes available, then I think we should take a hard look.
It's not a bad idea if the price is right, but the problem is the FO doesn't see it as a priority, otherwise they'd have traded for one by now or picked higher in the draft. Pennington is still our QB and he's a game manager type and a dink and dunk, ball control QB. We're not looking for receivers. It's disappointing, I know.
But does it really matter how you move the chains, as long as you do? Does it matter that you rocket it down the field and then can't get in the end zone? The only thing that matters is the scoreboard. Believe it or not, we can probably manage for yet another year with this crew, IF we can run the ball.
Our WR's are going to surprise a lot of people this year and they don't suck. 3 of those guys were on the 10th ranked passing unit in the league in 08. That is far from sucking.
Last year we did not have a clear cut dominant, franchise WR so everone wants to say they sucked.
What we do have is a group of smart, hard working guys with chips on their shoulder.
They will ALL improve in their second year in the same system. This was a group of players that played for a team that was in TOTAL rebuilding mode and all they did was overachieve.
They played with a QB who is great at what he does but is limited in what he can do on the field and got the starting job after a couple of weeks of preparation. He and the WR's were learning on the fly.
Ted Ginn: 08=56/790/2, 09=75/1150/7
Greg Camarillo: 08=55/613/2, 09=65/750/4
Davone Bess: 08=54/554/1, 09=48/500/2
Anthony Armstrong: 08=0/0/0, 09=48/600/4
Patrick Turner: 08=0/0/0, 09=38/350/7
Brian Hartline: 08=0/0/0, 09=22/250/1
This is not a group that is going to get a lot of publicity and hype (outside of Ginn) but they will get the job done in a blue colalr fashion.
Brandon Marshall does not fit and will never be traded to the Dolphins. He is a punk...just ask Joey Porter. It doesn't matter if he is a Pro Bowl WR. The trade will NEVER happen so why worry about it?
that would definately be funny to see Porter and Marshall practice every day against each other. HAHAHAHAHA....I wish he could come here just for that.
I've heard this RUMOR as well. Just because a guy asks for a trade doesn't mean he is on the block.
Where is your link to an article?
Furthermore, can you seriously tell me that we would consider the guy given his history?
It would be great to have a player like him, but at what cost? Right now our WRs are solid TEAM players. They are efficient, and perfect for our needs. I'm actually all set with what we have at this point. I don't want a star player. I want a championship team.

Nope. ILB is our weakest position. I'd also say OG and NT have more issues than WR.
he is a 25 year old stud WR, and his "history".......its no worse than Joey Porter's or Ricky Williams and the fans cheer both of them. I mean ya can't have a double standard
Im just saying reports had us looking at Boldin and this guy is younger and a better player than Boldin with a brighter future. We would be insane not to at least explore this option. If we explored the Boldin option we MUST explore this one.

The Denver Post is bad mouthing Marshall and he deserves it. Guy is a jerk. I think the Broncos are going to make it hard for him to leave. Seems he is cutting his throat.
It will surprise me if the Phins go for him as the FO likes what they have as of now. I could be wrong, but I think they are satisfied with the WRs for now.
Ricky is one failed drug test away from being banned for life from the NFL. Marshall is in no such danger as a lifetime ban. Plus Ricky was dragged to court for failing to pay child support for one of his 4 kids in 4 states!!! Im not knocking ricky the player and Im not saying people don't deserve multiple chances........but Ricky is on the same level as Marshall in my opinion. Both are scumbags off the field.
I never said Marshall was a "good guy" but no team that wins a super bowl wins with a bunch of alter boys. I mean Larry Fitzgerald was punching his girlfriend last year. If you had a chance to get him you wouldn't?? Please. I'm not saying totally overlook the off the field stuff, but he is only 25 years old and guys grow up fast in this league and you can't just cast him off. Maybe he turns his life around like Ricky did.
Look this guy is a top talent and a young player. He is no saint but a lot of NFL players aren't. And Miami's front office wouldn't be doing their job if they don't explore getting this guy who is on the market to be had. Especially since Miami's WR's currently suck. Sorry its true. You aren't winning playoff games with Ginn, Bess, and Camarillo as your top 3 WR's. Just ain't happening. If the price tag is too high....ok. If they front office doesn't think he is a good fit....ok. But Miami MUST explore looking into a trade possibility for him to upgrade the weakest position on the team!!! Thats all Im saying

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but remember it's just opinions.
To compare Ricky and Marshall, well I think some have to wake up. I was one that wanted Ricky out. Now that he is with us and keeping it clean, I'm all for it. There is a huge difference in fighting another football player (Porter), smoking pot, and violence against a woman, or DUI, disorderly conduct and the like. Sure Ricky is one puff away, and he hurt the team by quitting, which is why I wanted him out, but Marshall? I'll pass and I think the FO will also.
We will see if our receivers suck later on. For now, I think they are great and they will have to prove me wrong before I say they suck.
As far as the weakest spot on our team? It's still the OL. Depth there we have not. Here's hoping we don't have to many injuries.
you can say we have no depth at OL. Maybe so but you got pro bowler caliber in Long and Smiley and Vernon is very good and above average and Grove isn't chopped liver. Maybe no depth but 4 of the 5 are dare I say GREAT!!!!
At WR we have no pro bowlers and you can make a case that none of them are any good. You can make that case. I think Ginn is ok, but nothing better than ok at this point but he does get better each year and that says something and is promising. And everyone after Ginn at WR is a role player at best. 4th or 5th WR's on most NFL teams. I'm sorry Bess and Camarillo aren't keeping opossing defensive coordinators up at night.

Sure, we have plenty of FORMER Pro Bowlers at other positions, but our WRs are all young, so there's a chance one of them WILL make the Pro Bowl. How many Pro Bowl TE's, Kickers, D-Linemen, Corners, or Safeties do we have?
Ricky Wililams had to be dragged to court to pay child support. The guy is a multi-millionare. How low is that?
Joey Porter is walking through Las Vegas casinos running up behind people and sucker punching him them in public inciting riots in public.
THEY ARE ALL SCUMBAGS!!!! Ok, you want to rank a wifebeater higher on the totom poll than the deadbeat dad........go for it. Bottom line, THEY ARE ALL SCUMBAGS and making excuses for any of them and justify their behavior/rooting for any of them is laughable on any level.
I don't think Ricky or Joey are scumbags. Sure they made some mistakes, but who hasn't. Based on what I have heard about them and from them, I think they are both good guys. I don't know enough about Brandon to judge him one way or the other. As for our receivers, I think they are underrated and, with the new guys, they complement each other well. Ginn is a star in the making and Camarillo was having a fantastic season before he went down. It seems that he is recovering quite nicely and could pick up where he left off. The one thing I saw Marshall do was drop too many passes. We cut Hagan for that very reason so why would you pick up a discontent like Marshall?
As far as eesti's prediction is concerned, I don't see the receivers having enough opportunities for that outcome. The tight ends and running backs will gobble up a lot of those. In addition, I think we will run the ball more successfully and often this year.

How about paying child support?? A milionare needing to be dragged to court to pay for his own kid!!! That is a scumbag move. I was NEVER talking about the pot. I was talking about his failure to pay child support.
If he is not with the woman then of course he is going to have to go to court for child support. Everyone does. Another case of stupidity though since he let the gold digger get her hooks into him. She will now make more money in child support than she would have at any career.
he's got 4 kids from 4 mom's in 4 states. And he needed to be dragged to court with a court order and the threat of jail cause he didn't go when he was supposed to and was refusing to pay for one of the kids. Read up on the story before commenting.
It doesn't matter. There is a thing called due process. You have a right to prove the child is yours before you pay big money to some money grubbing *&&%**.
Like I said...stupidity does not equal scumbag.
Before you reprimand me for not knowing the story...maybe you should get yours straight first. I didn't hear any snappy comebacks for your flip flopping about "ranking scumbags" or did you finally decide if Marshall is a scumbag or if we should sign him because he is a "stud"?
Sometimes reading an article doesn't tell the whole story and you have to read between the lines...or have some life experience before you go off half cocked. At least be able to form a rational opinion instead of changing it with every sentence. I really don't care about some "story" by a guy who doesn't know the entire story and just writes what he has at the time of his deadline.
And don't even get me started on child support. Why does it take 50k a year to raise a child? It doesn't! Why should some hose bag lay on her arse and support herself and a kid just because the dad makes a lot of money? She shouldn't be able to. Get your butt out and work. Plenty of single mothers do it. Why is it the state thinks a child needs more money than a retired person on social security with failing health? There is a max on SS so why not child support? Because they are idiots.
You know what....if you are a woman and you don't want to be stuck with a kid and no father...then don't have unprotected sex with him unless your married. If I was going to have a life growing in my body...I damn sure would be a little more selective instead of trying to trap someone to support me.
A deadbeat dad is a scumbag but just because RW disputed the claim doesn't make him a scumbag. I don't see him being arrested for not paying it.
#1) Anyone with 4 kids from 4 women in 4 states is a scumbag. BUT, in addition to that; he demonstrates either: poor decision making, stupidity, or great degree of self-centred living.
do we need that to improve our team?
#2) While our Wr's weren't 'awesome'last season, they were in the top half of the league. And that with a QB that doesn't normally throw many long TD strikes, and with a 'decent' OL. This coming season the OL will be improved, which should help the running game, which should increase the man coverage & passing opportunities. Also we had YOUNG WR's who should all improve this season.
So the questions are...even assuming that Marshall is better than our guys....how much improvement does he bring above the improvement we are going to see by virtue?
And what is the cost?
IMO, Marshall's price tag for acquiring him will be a 2nd rounder at the lowest, more likely a 1st. The contract to sign him is likely to be quite high...$6million - $10 million.
I just don't think he upgrades us 'enough' beyond what we will get for our current investment. I say we give Ginn his year3 with a decent supporting cast before we decide to invest more in that group.
