I wish they had canned Boyer after the end of the 2021 season. I actually think the dbs are playing well and could use some blitzing by the front 7. Boyer was getting out coached in the preseason. Unfortunately if we canned him now Im not sure there is anyone on the staff ready to step into his position.

The oline played very good the last 3 games. Gave tua time in the pocket. These 2 next 2 games are winnable. But i also have my doubts the way this defense is playing. We are playing with backup cbs. Our lbs struggle to tackle. We are winning bend but not break games. Too close but we are still winning. I ll take it. I cant wait to play the next tough game in san fran or the bills and see where we stand. So far so good. 6 and 0 with tua playing a complete game. The bill have injuries and are weaker right not. The jets playing well. Cant wait to play the jets again. That will probably decide the afc east. We will see what happens. Still a lot of football to be played. Go phins

Our entire defensive approach - at least as I've understood it over the previous few seasons - starts with secondary play, and specifically CB who can play tight man the vast majority of the time.

I think our starting 5 DBs that were envisioned were: X, Byron Jones, Holland, Brandon Jones and Nik Needham. 3 of those guys lost for the season (losing hope Byron makes it back), X playing but with some injury concerns. No way to expect that the D wouldn't be significantly impacted by those losses.

However, my impression has been that there hasn't been much adjustment or stepping up by others to compensate. We need our pass rush to get there in spite of diminished coverage on the back end. We need to do a much better job of containing running QBs. Our tackling has to be better by leaps and bounds. I'm not saying we can reach our full potential as if everyone were healthy...I'm just saying that I believe it's possible for us to play quite a bit better on D with the players we have than what we're seeing.
