Why was he released?

I've been thinking that having a stud MLB could be what takes our D to the next level. He's been rated highly forever (including the most recent years) but his cap # was over $20M and SEA saves $16.6M on his release.

So, from the outside, it would seem to be just cap with the team pivoting with the trade of Wilson toward accumulating picks & freeing up cap space for a rebuild. There's always inside stuff that isn't public, of course, so I'm assuming maybe something as benign as he voiced that he didn't want to be part of a rebuild or something. But you never know, I guess.

Some good thoughts. Our defense definitely is good but it's no where near the caliber of the Rams or the Bengals I saw in the SB. I thought that game was gonna suck....it was an outstanding display of what we need.

The middle is a great place to start.

I've always liked this guy, but I don't know the state of his health, and I also don't know what else might have figured into his release besides money. If we could get a year or two out of him at a decent price, I agree- go get him!
