Wow, the hits keep on coming w/ the coaching hires, Sam Madison coaching corners, excellent. KC made 2 Super bowl appearances and 3 AFC championship games during his tenure.

Bevell, Embree, Welker, Studstill (at rb) McKenzie, Smith and now Madison. I like these guys. Upgrades all of 'em.

Man, I am excited about this coaching staff. Lots of playing and coaching experience here. This is where it starts.

OL - Frank Smith, Mike Person, Jeanpierre, Applebaum

You don't think getting the OL is important to McDaniel? I wanted Jeanpierre gone but bringing him back in a lesser capacity might be good. Was not familiar w/ Applebaum but I thought BC had one of the best OLines in college last year (along w/ Minnesota and Tulsa). Im confident that guys like Jackson, Dieter and Eichenberg will improve.

WRs - Welker and Robinson - You can not find a better person to teach route running than Welker.

DBs - Madison, Surtain and Gregory. 1 word, wow. Gregory is solid I remember him since his freshman season at Syracuse. Solid, worked his way up as an UDA as a player and from a coaching assistant as a coach.

Bevell, Embree, Ferentz, McKenzie and the retained D coaches and others.

This is a solid staff. What I always said that Flores did not have.

I'm excited for sure...but does being a great player make you a great teacher?
I ask because I still wonder what Dan Marinos role is on this team. confused smiley
Again , can we get Zack Thomas to teach tackling and how to be prepared against other teams?

GO DOLPHINS!!!!

There is often a discrepancy between "doing" and "teaching." Not all those that can really do something well can teach or mentor others to develop those skills. Similarly, one who excels at teaching may not be able to do what he describes to be done himself.

With this group of former players on board to instruct, I suspect most will be able to provide worthwhile instruction and insight. I am optimistic!

These guys are not great players anymore but good coaches. They bring to the table knowledge that will make our current players better. They can command the respect of our players because they have already shown that they have been successful coaches. They know what they are about.

Optimistic, hasn't this been the very definition of a Dolphins fan for too many years now? At least from February to September.confused smiley

The cycle has to break sometime. Miami is a great sports franchise , so many positives. I noticed a change in this team least season , I'm so happy this team isn't being blown apart just added to. thumbs up

GO DOLPHINS!!!!

I'm not sure what change you noticed in the team last season, but I do think there was a strong undercurrent of quality young talent contributing...it was often just overshadowed by:
- a long losing streak
- Watson drama
- a couple of massive gaps (OL and offensive coaching chaos)
That undercurrent might have been a big part of what you were noticing?

I watched a couple of old full games on YT from the JJ era, and it was cool to remember our D featuring ZT, JT, Armstrong, Bowens & Gardner, Madison & Surtain, Marion. I don't think this D has attained that level by any means, but there's a lot of legit young talent at all levels.

I just listened to the latest interview with HC McDaniels.

He said they plan to make a Sam Madison vs, Wes Welker every week going into practice.(barring old man injuries...his words not mine) That kind of fun outside the box thinking has GOT to fire up both sides of the ball in practice!!!

GO DOLPHINS!!!!
