Right now, we're picking third. Cinci and NYG are ahead of us. The Giants still have Washington and us on the schedule. If we lose to the Giants, we'll likely be picking second. Cinci would have to win a game in addition to beating us, for us to be picking first. The only game other than us that is a possible win for the bengals is the jets game. They play the browns twice and the pats. I think we're likely to pick number 2 as I don't see us winning another game (possible exception of Cinci who is starting Dalton again so who knows). The jets are playing better and it's an away game. The giants game is in NY (NJ actually) and we'll probably be underdogs there. If we do pick #2, I have no earthly idea what Grier will do. He could take Chase Young, I guess because the bengals are almost certain to take Burrow. They could go QB with one of their remaining first round picks or even go into the second round. Tua is the wild card. Is Grier so fixated on him, that he'll roll the dice on the injury? If not, will the injury cause Tua to fall to us later in the first round? Is there another QB that Grier likes? I keep hearing Jordan Love but he's had a lackluster year more or less. This is going to be a very interesting draft.
Teams below us in the standings:
Bengals Redskins Giants
Teams that keep Pittsburgh from making the playoffs:
Browns
and any team with 5 losses (Colts, Titans, Raiders)
Any team that keeps Houston from making the playoffs:
Patriots
Colts
So we need :
Detroit over Chicago
Buffalo over Dallas
Atlanta over New Orleans
Cincinnati over Jets
Giants over Green Bay
Cleveland over Pittsburgh
Washington over Carolina
Arizona over Rams
Denver over Chargers
Oakland over Kansas City
New England over Houston
I know that's a lot to ask for , but i can hope. Boy do i wish Cincinnati and the Colts won last week, our draft choices would all be below 20th pick, but it was not to be.

One other option that I've thought about is the following scenario. Let's say that we're picking number 2. There's little doubt that Cincinnati is going to pick Burrow number one. Chase Young is coveted by multiple teams. The Giants want him big time. We would hold the key to whoever gets him. The Raiders have two first rounders in 2020. Would they trade up and give us their two first rounders? That would give us four first round picks in the draft. Would the Giants trade us their first round picks this year and next so that we'd have three first rounders next year as well as this year. The key would be to get multiple teams interested in taking Young so that all roads would lead back to making a deal with Miami. Young looks to be an elite talent but the idea of getting more premium picks for a team with a multitude of needs is enticing.

Ive seen young play and he is really good. Consider its against a less talented competition in college but he excells and domintes at the college level.
You have to dominate at the college level to be good in the NFL.
If win 4-6 games that might take us out of the Young sweepstakes. I no longer want Tua. Lack of confidence vote after the injury. Saying that I am still not convinced that Herbert is a top 5 pick. Especially after watching the AZ St game. Some of his passes were inexplicable. Overthrow in the flats, behind the receiver, in the dirt etc. It was a big game (like the Auburn game) and he did not deliver. The ASU freshman QB was the best qb on the field imo.
Saying that if we pick at numbers 4-7 we should consider trading down and taking Eason (who I am beginning to like) Hurts or Fromm.
I am starting to worry we are winning ourselves out of the Chase Young sweepstakes. But I can not root for Miami not to win. Winning for the draft is not natural . Its the NFL today but I just cant do it.
GO DOLPHINS!!!!

That's a tough one. T ANDREW Thomas is our greatest need... but using a #4 on a Lineman may be over drafting. There are several good Olineman in the first 40. Maybe trade down if Young and Burrows are gone? Get 3 young studs on the line. This draft is CB deep also.
Grab Fromm with one our second rounders or TUA if hes still on the board.
Our line is collapsing every play. We could use a player at every position but our RBs are decent. Both lines need the most attention. I know it's not a sexy thing , but that's where we are lacking the most .
God I hope Chase Young is in play though. Hes a once in a decade player.ROH material.

That sucks and shouldn't be. I think we're in a tougher division to begin with. Shit, we have to play NE twice as well as Buffalo who is playing well.
Yeah, 808, that flies in the face of my understanding of the draft order rules. As I understand it, the rules that apply in determining the playoff eligibility and ranking are the same rules that apply to draft order...only in reverse.
Thst should mean that all other qualifications being equal, head to head should take precedence with the LOSER winning the higher draft pick in case of a tie.
Was looking at the updated draft order on NFL dot com and they list the team's greatest needs. Every on of the top 9 teams drafting has OL listed. With the way our team is outperforming its roster talent...plus others in the mix underperforming their roster talent...and with us playing so many of them in the last 4 games, there's a very real chance we play ourselves into a significantly different draft spot.
Point is, there may be a run on OL that has us looking at draft options there that are at a different level than our options may have otherwise been. That said, those same top 9 teams have other needs besides OL, as well, so it may not be as impactful.
I've always thought it would be good to utilize some of our valuable draft capital on the OL, but I'm currently also an advocate of looking to add a top-shelf FA to help anchor things as so much of the line will likely be re-built with young, inexperienced players.
We do need a left tackle I don't think Davenport will pan out. Actually like Webb better. Also would like a center in the draft. Pick up a guard in free agency. Yeah I think there will be a run on tackles in the first half of the draft. Saying that I would still hold off and wait until our last 1st rounder or use our first second rounder to grab one. The guy I like is Becton from Louisville. Right now he is graded as a 2-3rd rounder. Strong, nasty and takes his assignments personally. Not lazy, when run plays are called away from him he still attempts to take his man down.
Yeah jlyell13 I say we trade down if we pick 3/4 and Burrow and Young are gone. Say we pick up a 2 and 4. My draft would look something like this:
1 Best OT available
1 Matos DL PA ST or best rush end av
1 Hurts QB OK
2 Becton T LOU
2 Ettiene RB CLEM
2 Cushenberry C LSU
3 Gallimore NT OK
4 Arnette CB OH ST
4 Gipson DE TULSA Comp for James??
Fix the o-line. Get some speed on D. Gipson is a high motor guy like Matos. Check him out if he gets an invite to one of the post season all star games. Arnette and Gallimore are solid at their positions. I hope Ettiene is there at our second #2.

We could use that game breaker WR but I would bite the bullet on getting one in 2020. Gotta get the OLine, pass rush and QB positions first. We got Parker, Hurns and Williams Wilson and Jennings on IR. Jennings was a 4th rounder so there should be some talent there.
There is a kid from N Texas (Bussey?) who was climbing his way up the draft charts before he got injured (ACL if remember right). Good speed, size and route runner. Another kid from TX A&M. I would look for guys like this in the 5th. Or Move up late in the 4th to get them.
